looks pretty neato. pretty much like the 5d except its primarily made for both shooting and film making.

its about 1500 dollars more than a 5dmarkII and the lens is probably way sharper than the 24-105

the question mark is there because its questionable and quite frankly it might not even be that comparable. only time can tell though.

as far as base price goes, you're talking about a brain and a single prime lens. a complete setup that would allow you to shoot even a decent short film with no sound is going to run you more in the ballpark of 7-10k. beyond that, the equipment and hardware required to edit down the 3k footage the scarlet outputs (its own proprietary video, btw) is going to cost you around the same amount of money. im patiently awaiting the arrival of the scarlet, but its in a whole different class of equipment (and price point) than the 5dmkII.

Definitely better in the moving image world. As far as still images go the Canon will probably be superior.

there's a reason why it has that price tag and it's definitely not to compete with canon 5d mkII.

you're missing the point of the red cam. it's not marketed to be in competition with the 5D, it's marketed towards film makers and still makers. that is to say, the red cam is more of a motion capture device rather than a still capture device as the 5D is. in this respect it outperforms the red cam with motion capture while 5D might have better functionality for stills.
