How much do you want to spend?

Canon PowerShots are all pretty nice and cover a pretty wide range of price points.

I have an intermediate level one that I love. PowerShot SX200IS (12.1 Megapixels). Retails for about $370 and worth every penny. It's small so it's easy to throw in a bag or pocket. Great 12x zoom too. It's definitely one of the more expensive options. You can get a good PowerShot for $200 or less.

Im not too big a fan of any of the cybershots from sony but if I was to buy one it would have to be w290. 12 megapixels, 720hd video, 28mm lens, 3" lcd, and 5x optical zoom

Samsungs new TL220/5 is pretty cool. The only thing I really dont like about the camera is it use micro SD card only. Its touch screen and the dual lcd makes it easy for self portrait. 12.2 megapixel and 720hd video as well. Since its touch screen you get a 3.5" LCD and the optical zoom is 4.6X. A pretty good package.

Canon 780is is on the same boat as the other 2 I mentioned but the lcd is only 2.5" 12megapixel 720hd video. But is the smallest of the 3. The only thing about the 780 is the optical zoom is
3x only.

If you're looking for something with a little bit more zoom. I would look into canons SX series of cameras. I hope that helps but these are probably my first recommendations for you.

Canon's PowerShot SD780 IS.
It has both functionality and aesthetics. The black one looks sleeeek!
