running it and keeping it alive!!

i can't get an even, straight print to save my life.


cant you just "frame" it. i dont know much about dark room, but my class had these metal frames which sized your picture and kept it straight/framed perfectly. im not sure how much they were but they had sizes 2X3, 4X6, 5X7, and 8X10 all in one that lined up the edges perfectly straight.

yeah, i only have an 8x10 easel that i borrow of my friend. the only way to get your picture perfectly straight every time is to make sure the negative is enlarged so much it overlaps the edges of the easel. some photographers do it, i don't. i personally like the sloppy border look with a black frame around my image. i dunno i think it looks better.

yeah made out of cardboard. i broke the metal one a while ago when i dropped it and have yet to buy another one.

yeah. fixer smells like vinegar and cigarettes mixed together. it's really weird. i would kill to have my own darkroom. i seriously would. it would be quite expensive to have a decent water wash/dryer, and gallons of chemicals, but if i had one i would be really happy.

got myself a yashica lynx 14E... the shutter doesn't always fire so its a bit of an annoyance/waste of film but the results aren't bad and its fun to play with...

I got a question for b&w photography.
How do i get pictures like this.

I want to take pictures where my subject is basically a silhouette in black but you can tell what it is, like a person for example, and the background is its normal color. How would i do that?!?
I need to know asap i might go shooting tonight!!!
My idea was goin into an alley with maybe a light pole down the alley so i can see whats ahead and have a friend holding a bat with his back turned to me so i get him silhouetted.

i dont really get what metering is and dont know how to do it but i hear it alot in my class. Im not a photo major but i am taking a photo class in college right now and im on my final project.

learned burning/dodging today in the darkroom, its super weird, but the results are sick.

back to using a homeade neg. carrier cause sloppy borders always look better with portraits imo.

i met this guy a few months ago when i went to this one restaurant in downtown for the first time. since then, i've always been going to the restaurant cause it's bomb as shit. this homeless guy at the end of the block has always been there and asked me for change everytime he's seen me. i've always ignored him. this thanksgiving i told him i'd buy him some food if he let me take pictures of him, so i did.




and some random other homeless guy that i saw next to the parking lot
