how many of you guys print your own stuff and how many send it away to
get developed? i shot some film in college but now without that darkroom
to use my film photography has fallen off. For those of you that send
your stuff away where do you guys send it to and hows the price? or for
anyone who prints themselves how much did it cost you for start up in
equipment, chemicals, etc.

e-6 or medium format you can use walmarts send out service. they send it to fuji's processing labs, turn around time is about a week-week and a half. price varies from 2-7$ usually towards the lower end tho. they don't do scans so I do that myself.

to start developing your own b/w, everything should cost about $50. never looked into printing with an enlarger.

Hey guys, I want to start getting into photography but I have little experience or knowledge and i'm not really sure where to start as far as cameras. I like film and want to pick up just like a cheap little film camera to just kinda mess around and have fun with this summer so if anyone can help me out with any advice or guide me in the right direction what would be much appreciated, thanks.

@kxnny I would recommend getting a (135) Pentax K1000, Canon AE-1, Canon A-1, and Olympus OM10; (120) FPP Debonair.  For films; If you have access to a darkroom, Black and White would be great because you can learn a lot like developing, enlarging, and  scanning. Black and white film I recommend are Kodak Tri-X 400 and Ilford films.  good cheap starter color film is Fuji Superia 400 or 800, Kodak Gold 200 or 400, Fujicolor 200. As you become more familiar with films, you should pick films you like of and shoot them.

This is really general; so  if you have any questions or need help feel free to message me i'd be more than happy to help you!

@ kxnny I would suggest the Olympus OM with their 50mm fixed lens , well depending on how much money you have and how far into it you want to go...

for a point and shoot thats really nice and somewhat small check out the contax t series like the t2

also check out the contax g1, the body is cheap  but the lens will run you. ( if you can only afford either a good camera and crappy lens or vise versa then go for the most expensive lens you can get. Glass makes the difference.)

In the end the Olympus OM is cheap, works well, and is smaller than conventional SLRs, so I'd probably start there.
