All jeans will stretch - the more pressure applied on them, the more they stretch.

You want to go with a 32.

You can e-mail Gordon and ask him, and I'm almost sure that he'll say what I said. Ask other samurai 19oz samurai denim wearers how much initial shrinkage they had (not hypebeast members; chances are, they can't measure), and I will stand corrected if one of them actually says they shrank 2 inches in the waist (they will not). Also, that's not specific to the 710, its specific to the 19oz samurai denim, the cut has a negligible effect on the amount of shrinkage.
Why would it be irrelevant if the fit is exactly what the buyer is concerned about?

Anyways, I guessed you skipped directly to the short version huh?

My own pair, shrank two inches. But seeing as I'm on hypebeast I guess my words count for nothing.

But don't fret Kimosabe! I did find one person on hypebeast who you may actually find convincing. Coincidentally, this person said lot 12 (which follows the same "shrinking" convention as lot 11, according to experts (see following references)) shrank to

Unless of course, you, yourself don't own a pair of samurai and you are merely speculating, (Which I highly doubt you are) I can't find any reason why you, of all people, wouldn't believe yourself. Come on now brethren, you gotta have more confidence than that!

If you look at the chart once more and pull out a TI-89, you can easily subtract 28 inches from 30 inches to get 2 inches. Or 29 inches from 31 inches to get dos pulgadas. Or 30 inches from 32 inches to get zweii zoll. See Watson! It's a pattern! We just discovered DNA! I mean, you said it yourself that:

“Your words not mine” like Landy said.

I don’t want to ask Gordon twice cause he’s a pretty busy guy, so here's an actual email from Gordon regarding a pair of mine, Lot 11:

"As I’m not familiar with how either of those brands fit or measure (He’s talking about A.P.C and LVC), we usually recommend measuring the waistband on your jeans to get a better idea of your waist size. For example if you measure the waistband on your jeans and they’re around 28” then I would suggest size 28 in any of the Samurai’s as they will shrink down to 28” (Same waist as lot 12, note that the pre-soak was 30").

Regards,

Gordon

would you? Cause if you would, then that's just mean. You ain't aite, aite?!

See bawbs, my personal, although possibly erroneous (according to you), pre-soak waist measurements were exactly like the BiG chart, that is...30 inches! And after a nice long hot-soak in the waters of Lake Minnetonka the post soak was like Gordon said. Wooo!

Here’s an extra quote for your amusement.

Seems like you definitely have a lot of experience with these lots to be helping people out for general purposes. I never said the cut had an effect on shrinking. I myself was specifically answering brother Napalm's question regarding 710s. Not 19oz denim in general, cause you know, I value accuracy and precision. Plus the only 19oz I've seen are the s710xx, s710bk, s510xx, s512xxbc, 512bkbc, sm311-dx, s310xx. And Im pretty sure Napalm was asking about the 710s.

Firstly, I said go true to size... that's simply rule of thumb measuring - the pairs don't always measure 2+ because samurai's pair differ a good deal in the waist measurement from pair to pair.

Just to show the discrepency, "These are lot 12 tagged 32x36 but in reality are more like a tagged 28x36."
"I got these off the market a few days ago, they are brand new w/ tags, never soaked or altered (to my knowledge) or anything. The original buyer got them from BiG... Size 31 Lot 11... waist :16 (=32)"
""Thought they'd shrink more than they did. They shrank 1 down to tagged size."

As shown, the pairs waist sizes differ from pair to pair significantly. As I said, sizing true to size is what you want to do - its simple rule of thumb stuff.

I have a friend who purchased a pair when the lot was 11 - they started out +1 of tagged size and shrank to tagged size. I sent Gordon an e-mail about this - expect another post regarding this tomorrow. If you are correct, then congrats! I didn't include measurements and simply asked how much the samurai 19 oz denim shrinks, so the answer will be much more true. Also, he didn't specifically mention a denim and stated his point more generally. Other samurai denim like the texas cotton denim and such will shrink more. The chart is based on averages, and the pairs do differ a good bit. And again, I've said repeatedly that you size true to size... how did Gordon say to size? Was it the same?

And the last bit you added is absurd - why the hell would someone get the 710 if they want a relaxed, loose jean when samurai produces a load of cuts and models. Its the norm to purchase the 710 just because others have them and people just do not choose to buy other pairs. I was simply helping him out - if he wants a loose cut, he doesn't want samurai's (second to 003JP model) slimmest jean. He might've asked about the 710 because he saw someone else on here wearing them and thought they looked nice, but really, he probably wasn't exposed to samurai and other japanese denim brands' more relaxed models and thus would not know what the market truly has to offer.

You're followers seem to be pretty impressed with you're approach to appearing to be a pseudo-intellectual, keep it up!
