the new film will be compatible with polaroid cameras, but wont be polaroid brand and will have similar (but not identical) characteristics. A group of enthusiasts has purchased the second polaroid factory in the netherlands, as well as all the original equipment used for making the film. Some of the components used to make the film are no longer available, so this company is using new techniques to produce something close to the original. Should be interesting, im getting tired of paying 25 dollars plus shipping for sx-70 TZ off ebay.
more information is available at http://the-impossible-project.com as for right now, the last runs of polaroid instant made in '08 expired in september, so even buying off ebay is a crap shoot. Last edited by jay tee; 11-07-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

seems like those people wasted their money, if polaroid is rereleasing their on step camera, they would obviously need to create film for it themselves as well

summit global, which owns the polaroid brand, is releasing the camera but is relying on the impossible project group to develop their film. summit global no longer owns either of the only two factories that have been used to produce the film for the last 40 years.
