Audi's are expensive as fuck to maintain and aren't reliable. I've seen E36's run great with 125K+ Miles

Just save up a little more and get some lower mileage cars. :/

i'd prolly keep it NA, thinkin m50 manifold as a must, otherwise focusing on suspension and feel (z3 rack, soils, ss brake lines, and maybe a short shift)

I think that's a big misconception about Audi cars. I just switched from Honda to Audi and from what I've done so far in terms of maintenance (Brakes, oil change, timing belt, etc.) the price for parts are about the same. I think the hike in prices is mainly from the labor involved with working on European cars, a lot of things are pretty backwards sometimes.

I think you really got to figure out if you'd like AWD or RWD/4door or 2door/NA or FI

I cant really speak for a e36 m3 but a b5 s4 has crazy potential. With a K04 swap and tune you're pushing 400 whp easily in a 4-wheel drive car.

I use to have a Blue E36 M3 and I went thru 2 motors. I love bimmers, but maybe the Audi would be better.

I have an e36 M3. White/blk interior. VF supercharger on it. Bilstein coilovers and such. I love it. A blast to drive. Hopefully you enjoy working on your own car and know some people who know about working on these. Because getting parts and work done on them is expensive! But its AMAZING to drive. Even on my 18's I love how it drives. If you have any questions PM me or check out Bimmerforums.com

couple pics of it..

Id take the S4 but turbos will be expensive to replace.

If you were looking at an e46 M3 then there would be no question about it.
