I don't know what type of material the Triumvir denim is made of, but generally, people don't wash raw denim because people try to get natural creases in the jeans where the indigo fades off (whereas if you wash them early, the denim bleeds out all over) If you wear them for a long time without washing, you'll get contrast in different places.

Denim isn't foreign to me, I just don't understand David's suggestion against washing the denim. Mine haven't been since the initial drop; strangely enough, the washing instructions on the tag for the denim says dry-clean only.

Well said Marc. Especially with the raws that stiffness is important if your jeans smell like poo and you absolutely feel the need to wash em Febreeze it.

Lastly, there were quite a few orders we couldn't process out on the 29th due to many internal errors we faced on the 29th starting with a power outage at the office & UPS not willing to deliver more shipping supplies until Monday (1/05/09) it's bullshit I know :( but when I get in on Monday I will make sure it all goes out. Another trick that helps is just rotating the jeans you wear. When I broke in my blue indigo raws from last season I pretty much wore them every other day. Give your jeans a chance to air out a bit. Also if you're looking for breaks I don't recommend you hanging them up. From my experiences gravity will pull the breaks out, I personally throw the jeans I'm working on in a laundry bin.

Forgot one other thing. I don't won't to go too deep into all the different methods for breaking in jeans. But if you're looking for stiffness you can always starch your jeans after a wash. Some people argue though that the starch prohibits the indigo to shift around in the denim for good breaks etc... etc...

if you guys want to get those "pringle stacks" (-lerche) just wear them almost everyday. I also noticed that my stacks were a lot more prominante than others, probably due to a bit of natural sagging haha.. This also allows for a quick way for the natural fades and stains/marks.

It's a pleasure to be here. Honestly, I've looked around at the threads showcasing offerings from various other makers and suffice to say, Triumvir is head and shoulders above all else.

Ok, i am going to go back to the jeans comment because i wanted to fully cover everything that was said for anybody who may have more questions or still unsure of what the hell people are saying.

Raw jeans are to be worn however one feels like it, if you want to wear them raw, wear them, if you want to wash them and wear them softer, do it; no one is stopping you. But the general reason that people buy raw jeans is because they either want to wear them until they are contoured to their body or because they like the crisp look of the jeans. Jeans also vary in weight but the Triumvir jeans are 13 oz which isnt that heavy, but it will still fade well over time and has plenty of features that will keep you happy if you are not looking to wearing the same jean everyday. As far as when one is looking to fade their jeans, wearing on a minimum 4 days a week basis is a good way for someone who doesnt want to wear the same pair every day. So rotating like Lerche mentioned is a good idea. As for hanging or not hanging, i believe that it can be argued either way, one can hang their jeans and it will air out if the buttons/zipper is un-done, or you can leave them out. Air restriction is the biggest enemy to not getting the smell out, but that is easily solved by either flipping inside out (not recommended unless they really smell) or just opening the buttons like i mentioned before.

When wearing, certain characteristics may take place (previously mentioned were whiskering and honeycombs along with stacking or stacks.)
Whiskering happens with mostly heavier denim that when worn, the dyed warp of the jean gets its cotton agitated until cotton fibers tend to stand out and make the jean look stubblier, this effect is whiskering and while known more-so to happen in the front of your jeans can also be seen on the back side of your denim. Honeycombs are what happen due to walking, running, climbing and any other activity you can think of and are located at the back of your knees. After a certain amount of wears, your jeans will tend to have creases on the back of your knees that will be present after you wear them and even remain when you take off your jeans, these are the honeycombs and often they will be nicely faded when you do decide to wash your jeans. Stacking takes place when the length of your jeans are too long and your pant legs bunch up at the top of your shoes. the effect that is produced looks similar to a layering effect and can be either a positive thing or a negative thing depending on your own opinion.

Anyways, i really wanted to be a help to anyone and all that were still interested in this. If there are any more questions, i will try to address them in future posts. Happy new years everyone and Victory or Death.

So what method works best for you guys as far as getting rid of the smell on the raw denim?

Black jeans tend to have a particular smell that is due to the dye that was used man, you are going to have to wear them until you transfer your own smell into them and let the smell leave. If you have the indigo version, it is basically the same thing, although it is not as pronounced as it is in the black version of the jean. I recommend wearing them hard outdoors so as to get the smell off and airing them out while breaking them in. but yea man, that smell wont go anywhere alone, you are going to have to wear them out, or if you cannot stand it, wash them or soak them. Soaking would take less dye out of the jean, but it will be less thorough. Let us know what you choose to do and hope this helped. Peace!

From my experience, there should be a bit of stretching, but for the most part, the denim will stay the same size after they are completely broken in as they are raw. As for the second question, what other pair?

i got a pair of castors (which arent raw by the way) that i started wearing already and im trying to break these in first. and i also have a pair of the pollux that i havent wore yet, but when i tried both pairs on i felt that the pollux were a lot more comfortable. so when should i switch from wearing the castor to wearing the pollux? i guess what im askin is when will the castors be completely broken in before i should start breaking in the pollux? sorry like i said in the old thread i havent worn pants in a while so i dont know if this is makin sense to anyone else.

and since we all agree the pollux are more comfortable than the castors i guees i can ask this question again:

when you get a pair of jeans and begin to wear them, there is an initial size of waist, after a while, the waist with wear and use will stretch out to at most 2". That being said, most people that look to 'break in' their jeans often are talking about raw denim man. When it comes to jeans that are not raw, you can stretch out the waist a bit with a bunch of books and the pants buttoned all the way so as to give an inner pull. But if you are worried about when to start wearing the other pair you got man, just rotate days, that way you are giving a fair share to both of your jeans and that way you will be less likely to have that yucky smell. ya dig? anymore questions you may have, PM me.

Triumvir's clothing is quality. I had high expectations and they've been met, I couldn't be happier. I could of been happier if had gotten some Triumvir stickers :p. There's always next time.

Don't yank on em' or put too much pressure on them, mine broke off even though I didn't yank them open or anything so be cautious when buttoning and unbuttoning your pockets homie. Btw I didn't even put the patch on my m-65 I'm just keeping it a souvenir 8)

same here, one of my lower buttons came off during the 2nd day of wearing it
didn't really un-button / button it much either :P

the strings to pull was also ruined, now i have to try to slide it back in the loop =T
