Memes
3 Great Jones (3rd Street Between Broadway and Lafayette)
1-212-420-9955

One of the oldest streetwear shops in NYC standing 10+ years, with many exclusive brands such as Y3, Jeremy Scott x Adidas, Reebok exclusives, Chimala, PRPS, 10 Deep, Nooka, Cazal ETC. specializing in street and semi high fashion brands. Can also do special orders for items not in stock anymore.
www.memes-nyc.com (http://hypebeast.com/forum/www.memes-nyc.com)

Global NYC
129 Grand Street NYC, 10013 (Between Broadway and Crosby)
1-212-625-0200

Formerly "The Pizza Shop", now a new store has emerged, Global NYC. Recently opening up a few days ago, the store is open for business, although they're aren't fully established with the items yet.
They have great prices, and a wide selection of Jordans, Prada's, Dunks, and many rare and exclusive European streetwear brands.

Coat of Arms
43 Clinton Street, New York NY 10002 (on the other side of Alife)
212-673-7060

Wow, this store is fucking awesome if you love retro shit, they have Starter caps, Retro Flight gear, and the sickest collection of gear you don't see anymore since the early-mid 90's, check it out if you have the fix for retro shit!
www.coatofarmsnyc.com (http://www.coatofarmsnyc.com)

World
187 (how ironic) Chrystie Street
Lower East Side
New York, NY 10002
212-677-4296

This store has a lot of good gear from underground designers, not to mention Orisue which is barely sold at stores. They also have a very sick collection of Nikes which are hard to find, or mad overpriced in Flight Club, they also have a very fine (but small) collection of Jordans. The shop owner is dumb cool as well. A small selection of good UK/London clothing as well. To get there easily, it's on 2nd ave, but the name changes as you go down it, but it's a block up from Houston and 2nd ave. Across the street is a park with basketball courts.

Prodigy
17 Ave. B (2nd Street)
NYC, 10009
212-228-4737
www.prodigynyc.com (http://www.prodigynyc.com)

Just found this store, it's been open for about 4 months, they got some sick prices and sales already! Good selection of SBs, Dunks, New Balance, Jordans and some apparel which I didn't have time to check out. Go there, it's close to Alife as well.

Blades Board & Skate
659 Broadway
New York, NY 10006
(212) 477-7350
http://www.blades.com/

Sometimes has some good Nike SB's and some skateboarding/blading/snowboarding brands, good shit. Also got boards of the likes, blades ETC. Close to other boutiques for "fresh" gear, which is why I put the broadway store location.

Daves Quality Meat
7 E 3rd St
New York, NY 10003
(212) 505-7551

This is close to my old apartment, they got some fresh shit in there, dunks, adidas, underground brands ETC.

http://www.davesqualitymeat.com/

Prohibit Nyc (Sadly, this store is no longer open.)
269 Elizabeth St
New York, NY 10012
(212) 219-1469

Mixture of urban Japanese and american brands. Some rare shit sometimes, and stuff you can't really find elsewhere. A good supplier of Evisu. Workers are chilled too.

Classic Kicks Incorporated
298 Elizabeth St
New York, NY 10012
(212) 979-9514

A good place to get some fresh kicks and gear at a low price. It seems expensive when you see it from the outside because it's in kind of a yuppie location, but they got nice prices. Close to CBGB's.

Supreme
274 Lafayette St
New York, NY 10012
(212) 966-7799

If you don't know what this place is about, you shouldn't even be on these forums.

Alife
158 Rivington St
New York, NY 10002
(212) 375-8128

Same as I said for Supreme, but this place is hard to spot, it has no sign. Just look for a kind of elegant door next to a bunch of graffiti next to a bodega on the corner. They have two sides of the store, so don't miss the other side.

Triple Five Soul
It's right on the same street as Supreme, I like this store, and I don't care who hates on it.

Brooklyn Industries

It's an OKAY spot, not really my type of shit, but for some people I guess it's rare, right next to Supreme and Triple Five. There's also another 2 places on the same street that have hot shit, so you won't miss them.

Clientele
267 Lafayette St
New York, NY 10012
(212) 219-0531

Right across from Supreme. They got pretty good kicks, dunks, SB's, blazers, vans ETC at a very decent price. Check it out.

RECON/NORT
359 Lafayette St.
212 614 8502
(from SOLE.)
http://www.reconstore.com/news/2005/11/27/1133128833358.html

That's all I got for now, anyone else have address, let me know, I will edit this post and paste it in.

VINTAGE SHOPS:

Search and Destroy
25 Saint Marks Place (8th Street between 2nd and 3rd Ave.)
New York, NY 10003
(212) 358-1120

If you're into punk stuff, dildos, vulgar statement shit and other vintage garbage, this is like the main place for it. The workers are trashy looking Japanese punks, they have Souvenir jackets, Japanese motorcycle gang related stuff and... It's kind of like a wonderland for trashy, vintage, obscene shit, a must-visit type of store. A bit expensive though.

Metropolis
43 3rd Ave. (between 9th and 10th Street)
NYC, 10003
212-358-0795

I haven't been here in a while till today, and shit... These motherfuckers stack up on some ill retro shit, it's not even funny. Now, they have more shoes than anything, they have a very good selection of mens and womens Italian shoes (and boots,) for those hipster occasions in us all. They also have 80's/90's fresh prince type track jackets, and they have a small street wear section, this is an awesome store.

Argosy
428 East 9th Street (Between Avenue A and 1st)
NYC 10009
212-982-7918

I love this little shop, they have Japanese vintage clothing more than likely, it's owned by some quiet Japanese dude who's always watching flash animated cartoons on his Mac Book. They have a good selection of old school Disney related gear, flannel button ups, track jackets, and sometimes have random sneakers you've never even seen or heard of. They also have a very nice selection of vintage Levi's Corduroy and colored.

Village Style NY
www.villagestyleny.com (http://www.villagestyleny.com)
111 East 7th Street (Between Ave. A and 1st)
NYC (10009)
212-260-6390

I love this place, they always have some random ass Jordans, Dunks and old school kicks you forgot about. Not only that, they usually have a vintage Nike Track Jacket to match whatever you're buying in the store. You really have to check this place once a month, even though the site says they get shit once a week, but check monthly, you'll be surprised. At this moment, they got a pair of Retro Jordan 1's in Sz 13 for $25, come on son, you can't beat that, even if they're used, so what, now you got dope kicks to beat!

No Relation Vintage
204 1st Ave (between 12th and 13th Street)
NYC 10009
212-228-520

This place is similar to Village Style NY in almost every way, I think they're connected, although this place is a bit bigger, and they have more rare shit in glass cases, definitely check this store out when you get a chance.

Atomic Passion
430 East 9th Street (Between Ave. A and 1st)
NYC 10009
212-533-0718

This store mostly has womens gear, but they occasionally have some dope shit for men. But if you wanted to get your wifey something nice for her birthday, this is definitely the place to go, their shit goes way back when.

Andy's
37 St. Marks Pl. (2nd Ave)
New York, NY 10003
212-253-8404

(AND)

16 West 8th Street
New York, NY 10011-
212-460-8488

I think this is the No.1 vintage store in NYC, considering it had so many locations, and has been open for 25+ years. This is the "must go to" vintage shop in NYC, it's like a mall for vintage shit. I used to work here, the owner is a real jew bag, but this is the only store I know of that does price negotiations.

Bobby
104 East 7th Street (Between Ave. A and 1st)
NYC 10009
212-674-7649

This shop is MAD small, like Argosy, but like Argosy, this is also Japanese owned, and they are very similar to Argosy. They have some rare Dunks and Nike shit in glass, they also get some ill kicks that you ain't heard or seen, this is like Argosy, so read the description.

Tokio 7 (a Consignment Store)
64 E. 7th St. (Between 1st and 2nd Ave.)
New York, NY 10003
212-353-8443
I love this place as well, another Japanese thrift shops. Only reason I keep calling out the owners nationalities, is because a lot of us all know JP has some crazy fashion and shit we'd never get, so yeah. Everytime I come to this shop, I always see some OD Nike's that I never seen, or just some rare shit in general. They're quite pricey, but only because most of their stuff is in good condition; hence the "consignment." Definitely check this place out, also nice womens wear as well.

Ok, so these are all basically in NYC, I'll have other shops from other locations coming up soon, so check frequently.

quick question, gonna be in NYC this weekend, are stores open on both Sunday and Monday? And are they reduced hours?

In Canada we tend to close down everything during holidays, so just making sure.

thanks

soniknirve

depends on the store. some tend to close earlier (6ish) on sundays. others choose to close on mondays. for the most part they're open all week. i'd say don't go shopping until noon bc that's when most stores will be open (on any day).

EDIT: oh i see. it's labor day wknd. stores are open as usual. only banks and post office are closed. subway runs slower.

who can do a pickup at the polo rugby store in ny?

Gmas
09-10-2007, 03:21 PM
Yeah they're mostly all in Soho/lower east side. You can hit them all just walking around as long as you're not lazy.

http://www.nycshopguide.blogspot.com/

My personal favs from when I was there that I'd say you HAVE to hit up:

- Alife
- Flight Club
- Union
- Reed Space
- DQM

- Supreme was picked over when I went
- Recon/Nort gets good stuff but nothing really impressed me when I was there
- Clientele has lots of Nike's/SB's but is $$$

Busy Workshop is the Bape store just so you know.

sorry not that i know off, but i suggest just taking that ride up to prince... besides supreme and clientele you can easily hit BWS, union, kid robot, stussy, nort/recon, and dqm in one shot... like others said Reedspace and ARC are good spots too but are a bit further from that area

Does New York City get during Thanksgiving? I mean, how many layers would one wear to stay warm? For now, I plan on wearing an undershirt, a tee, a crewneck, and a coat. What do the guys in NYC usually wear during that time?

I've been to Paris during Thanksgiving and I assume it'd be the same in NYC. However, it was foggy/cloudy/raining in Paris, so I hope my time in NYC would be a lot nicer (sunny, warm, partly cloudy the worst).

This is just a place holder for where I will be posting my list of shops which hold vintage, and "thrift" shit.

Stay tuned for the lists, as I do not collect business cards for these shops, but will do so soon.

In case you're wondering why there should be a list for something like this, well simply put; Finding shit you won't find anywhere else. You go to the shops I go to, and that's exactly what you find, stuff nobody else does.

P.S. FOR MODS: Please change the "NYC" to "NY" because this list won't just be for Manhattan, thanks.

I forget the exact building number, but there's this neat thrift store that's across from Turntable Lab. 7th Street New York, NY 10009. The prices there are decent. But they have a pretty nice selection of army/western gear among other things, plus some dope t shirts from the 80s.

Please change the "NYC" to "NY" because this list won't just be for Manhattan, thanks.

NYC is all five boroughs. But if you are going to be putting stores that are located in L.I. or Yonkers, then make the switch.

It's a Japanese company and their largest store is located in SoHo. They sell really nice, inexpensive stuff with a great fit. Solid T shirts are $5, and I got a really warm sweater with a plushy inner lining for $50. It's definitely worth checking out.

does the Head Porter shop still get new stuff? I just went this weekend and there isn't really much stuff up there and it just looks like the same stuff as the last time I went which was in July. Are they going to be closing the head porter section once they get rid of all that stuff?

What? You just walk in the store.

Damn, I'm pissed I missed that party on the 4th, I totally didn't see that. I want to go to a place where people from here go, like a meeting, but not per se', like we'll just be there or some shit at the same time, that'd be cool.

There isn't really anything around Times Square... There's a footlocker lmao, but that's about it. The closest place would be like... Actually, almost every street wear store is downtown. Just take a 10 minute train ride dude, it's worth it, most of those stores are close to each other, walking distance.

Village Style NY
www.villagestyleny.com

Ok, so these are all basically in NYC, I'll have other shops from other locations coming up soon, so check frequently.

hello hypebeast. i'm planning a trip to NYC for the beginning of this march and i need help on compiling a list of must-visit spots for your typical hypebeast fare. i already have a few places in mind but i can't help but think that i'm forgetting stuff.

some spots i have set in my mind: uniqlo, BiG, etc.,; i'm looking to visit mostly NY-exclusive spots

i also would like to know if any of you NY'ers got any hole-in-the-wall food spots that make the "best _____ in NY" they can suggest. i'm a sucker for shit like that. thanks brahs.

Hi,

I know this may sound a little premature but i am planning my trip to new york from the UK for Christmas 2008 and am wondering what shops i can expect open. We plan to arrive in NYC on Christmas Eve and spend 3 nights in the city.

Should i expect many shops to be closed around this time of year, or will the shops close for Christmas Day and open up the day after?

Thanks

The European edition of the Cool Grey Jordan Spiz'ike's from Europe are now in NYC in only (as of now) one store location: Global NYC, in NYC.

Snipit:

Last summer, shots of Michael Jordan wearing Cool Grey Spizikes first surfaced. MJ has long been known for wearing Jordan products in public occasions early and that has been great for us wishing to look forward to new Jordan products. Today we have now received some catalog photos as well as a “coming soon” nod from a shop with a tight Jordan connection, Opium in Paris. This shop was one of the Top 23 international stores and underwent a complete facelift for the special release.

They are currently on sale at Global NYC in Manhattan for $350, there is a very limited quantity of them, as they were shipped directly from Europe.

Global NYC
129 Grand Street NYC, 10013 (Between Broadway and Crosby)
1-212-625-0200

You can also click on my "Shop List" for reference, you may also want to check out the shop for a great selection of other Jordan's, rare European streetwear Tee's/Hats, Dunks, Prada's and more.

Currently they have sizes 7-12, and there are currently about 20 pairs right now, so grab them quick, or you can go store, ask for the manager, Kenny, for a size.

I will keep updates on sizes and availability.

Global NYC

Formerly "The Pizza Shop", now a new store has emerged, Global NYC. Recently opening up a few days ago, the store is open for business, although they're aren't fully established with the items yet.
They have great prices, and a wide selection of Jordans, Prada's, Dunks, and many rare and exclusive European streetwear brands. Most exclusively as of now (today actually,) they have the European edition Cool Grey Spiz'ike's on sale for cheaper than Europe's prices, approximately $350, grab them as quickly as possible, this is one of the only stores as of now that has them.

454 Dean Street
Brooklyn NY

It's two blocks away from the Atlantic/Pacific stop

They had the:

Medicom 1, 2, and 3
SBTG
Slam City Skates
Pushead
Futura
Sharks
SIGNED De La Soul Low's
Avengers (both colors)
Home AND Awayguns
Border Blue
What the Dunk

and the list goes on. Much better selection than most shops. Prices were good too. I picked up a pair of Slam City Skates for $340, which is right in the middle of the range listed on the Price List thread @nsb.org ($300 - $375) but the Sharks were only $250, which is $100 than the price listed @nsb.org ($350 - $425)

The Futura. Pusheads, and SBTG's were also significantly lower than the prices listed in the Price List thread @nsb.org...

It's owned by the same guy who owns Denimandsole.com - he's a cool guy and it was an overall great shopping experience. He also said he can get me pretty much anything I'm looking for, and with his connects from d&s I don't doubt it - I gave him my want list and he was like 'easy'

so basically shop at this store because it's right near my crib and I want them to stay open!

good list, but uniqlo should be added, along with the flagship high end and department stores (ie bloomingdales, century 21, saks 5th, uniqlo, etc for the dept. stores, and dior, LV, etc for the high end stores). also i would add bbc ice cream, bape, stussy, union and jean shop

i walked past this one place today in williamsburg called kerok kicks. they have a pretty nice selection. mondrians, buellers, apparently they're getting donatellos later this week.

i was surprised at how underground they are though, and called up world and dave's to ask about them. neither of them had heard of kerok. what do you guys know about this place? are they legit? it seemed like their collection was almost too nice to fly under the radar like that.

anyways, here's the address and phone number.

for levi's there are two levi's flagship stores...one in soho on broadway and one on 5th avenue

nudies can be found in the shop across the street from union as well as in bloomingdales in soho and 5th ave

cheap monday can be found at urban outfitters in soho

hooded leather jackets...i would think zara in soho on broadway has em

for colorful cardigans try american apparel

does anyone know if the head porter shop inside the Stussy store is still there? I think I remember reading that they were eventually going to close it down and do something else with that space, has that already been done now? I remember the last time I went to NYC in November, the Porter stock was already lacking somewhat, just want to know if they completely closed down that shop yet

If you ask where to go in New York City that list can be endless. It depends what you've already seen and how long you are planning to stay there. If you are the first time in NYC or so, you can go to see Empire State Building Observation Deck, visit Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Metropolitan Musium of Art, lots of places to see while you walking, Broadway let say from 34 St. to Central Park, and so on. The best way is do some research online for Manhattan. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Have a great day
