anybody know how much they get paid??..because whatever their wage is..is too much

it actually seems like all they get paid to do is stand around in the newest shit..get first dibs on everything..etc..

and to tell people that they dont have anything in their size at this moment.. to come back another day, before the store opens at 12

and the security guy gets to stand there and laugh at people who walk out empty handed..while he's getting paid to do nothing..

how the fuck did they get these jobs??

they probably also get to bang all dem chicks that work at that la perla store right next to 'em as a bonus..

who cares what they make?

it actually seems like all they get paid to do is stand around in the newest shit..get first dibs on everything..etc..

and to tell people that they dont have anything in their size at this moment.. to come back another day, before the store opens at 12

and the security guy gets to stand there and laugh at people who walk out empty handed..while he's getting paid to do nothing..

the security guard actually makes sure people don't walk out the store with 90 dollar shirts and 300 dollars sweatshirts, which by the way has never happened, so i guess he is doing a good job

but oh wait, i forgot! it's make shit up day!
(i guess i didn't get the memo!)

they have all the same jobs as retail workers,

people that work in macy's or like even foot locker of all places do the same thing:

"tell people that they dont have anything in their size at this moment"
and to help customers...

"it actually seems like all they get paid to do is stand around in the newest shit..get first dibs on everything..etc.."

so i guess i forgot that they stand there absolutely still, not moving!
so the guy at the register ringing up my clothes is standing there in the newest shit getting first dibs on everything while i'm standing there like a retard wondering who i pay
but oh wait i forgot! it's make shit up day!
so they really aren't doing nothing, they are helping me!

i bet u guys wouldn't have the same attitude about BWS employees if you were one....

its retail work at a good store, why aren't you curious to know the wages of say a investment broker, a male prostitute, a best selling author, or even an aerospace engineer? i bet they make good money to wear the expensive suits they wear

they get paid well..

well..yes, they obviously ring up my transactions, and get the size i need if they have it or whatever..

but they really dont seem pleased to be there most the time..which comes off as rude, and not very helpful..

i'm not on a first name basis wit these cats like you people are..cause it's not that serious to me..but the girls i've dealt with are pretty cool..and theres like 2 white guys that are/were decent

but basically...theyre all just there to get their hands on a hoodie before anybody else does..

the rest of their shift is irrelevant

"but they really dont seem pleased to be there most the time..which comes off as rude, and not very helpful.."

when was the last time you've ever walked into a store and had a 3 hour chat and dinner with an employee there?

do you expect them to enlighten you on current events?
are they there to swap recepies with you and to maybe meet up later for lunch?

no!

they are there to help you with merchandise and to ring up purchases!

by the way,

one employee i met seems happy to be there,
the manager seems happy to be there,

oh wait its make shit up day still?????
i guess they are miserable and hate their job!
why don't they quit???

OH YEAH, IT'S MAKE SHIT UP DAY, SO THEY REALLY AREN'T MISERABLE!!

"i'm not on a first name basis wit these cats like you people are..cause it's not that serious to me..but the girls i've dealt with are pretty cool..and theres like 2 white guys that are/were decent"

i've only been there a few times, and i don't really know everyone's name, but i was introduced to a few people... does that mean i'm serious because i know like 4 of their names?

no?

oh but it's make shit up day....
(maybe i should get my e-mail fixed?)

"but basically...theyre all just there to get their hands on a hoodie before anybody else does.."

oh so they aren't there to make money?
they aren't there because they enjoy retail?

no!

but since it's make shit up day.....

so to sum everything up:

"the rest of their shift is irrelevant"

basic shift:

come in for work
maybe do stocking or unload shipments

**** this is the part where they are on the "floor" ****

help customers
ring up merchandise
make sure stuff doesn't get stolen

"the rest of their shift is irrelevant"

they only

"ring up my transactions, and get the size i need if they have it or whatever"

while they are on the floor,

so what else are they supposed to do on the floor?

enlighten you on current events?
swap recepies with you and to maybe meet up later for lunch?

i don't think so?

You have a point here, asia_minor that "technically" these retail staff's job is to do just that: stock, do transactions, help with merchandise, etc.

But a huge part of retail, especially floor staff is customer service. It's integral to any shop that wants a loyal following. I'm sure you've all had the experience walking into a shop where the people working there were total assholes to you; even arrogant. It totally turns you off from exploring the store further, even if you do like the clothes, and voila: wasted revenue.

Just like in restaurants. If you had a pretty good meal, but shitty service, would you even think about going back? Probably not. Yet if you've had absolutely spectacular service, yet just an average meal, you would still consider returning. And it's never "oh I'll excuse the waiters/waitresses. It's not their job to enlighten me on current events or have a 3 hour chat". You always complain.

Bape is lucky in that people will always return to the store no matter what because of the want for their product. But best_name_ever has a point in that terrible customer service can really turn you off from shopping there.

Why are they arrogant anyway? Not like their high up the economic ladder working retail.

how do you think it feels to stand around all day and field calls from people about if something is in or if they have something

spend all day telling people

1) they dont have their size
2) a bape price on a item that clearly shocks people
3) where the store is and when they are open to

listen it sucks

i woudlnt work there on the sickest discount.....you coudlnt pay me enough

ready for my answer to this??

dictionary definition of asshole: A thoroughly contemptible, detestable person

i have never ever seen a thoroughly contemptible, detestable person in BWS...

also, i have something called PROOF that they aren't thoroughly contemptible and/or detestable, its called "i had a conversation with a worker there"

without proof of them being an "asshole" to you, what you have is called an "opinion"

opinion: A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof

so do you have proof that they were an asshole?

did they say to you something an asshole would say?

did they mock you for not buying anything?

did they insult you?

i doubt it,
but
since it's still make shit up day, then i guess they did

what does restaurant service have to do with retail service???

of course it's not the waiter's job to talk to me, since they have about 6 or 7 other tables to wait on!

retail workers have maybe the same amount of people to help, but usually they make sure they help the people well one at a time, which is what they do

how do you know they are assholes if you've never talked to them and just make "assumptions based on what you see" ??????

since it's make shit up day,
i think everyone in retail is an asshole for not talking to me

ok so how old are you guys?

29 year olds on the internet?
sweet

Asia_Minor is a thoroughly contemptible, detestable person in other words an asshole.

do you have proof of this?

are you with me every day to prove this statement?

no?

so then i guess that makes it an opinion, and i have no time for your opinions...

asia_minor you make a lot of good points but can you please give it a rest with the "make shit up day", you're beating the joke to death and it wasn't great to begin with. it detracts from your arguments.

actually i disagree about the make shit up day, since i believe it adds to the sarcasm and wit of my responses....

i'm not actually beating it to death, i don't walk around with a baseball bat hitting it, but you could say i'm "overusing it" which is what an intelligent person would say instead of all these damn euphamisms....

do you have proof it was a bad joke?

do you have proof it was a joke?

maybe i didn't intend for it to be funny!
i actually think i said it to add to my argument, showing how people are making stuff up instead of actually telling the truth!

asia_minor
02-26-2006, 02:00 PM
the lady at union is very nice..good customer service..likes to give info on releases and shit

she should go down to bws and teach those college students somethin about the retail game

so good customer service is about telling release dates?
i don't usually hear department stores or many other stores (besides maybe like EB games or music stores) telling me release dates for specific articles of clothing, so i guess they too have bad customer service and the lady at union has to help all of them too!
oh yeah, maybe Nigo doesn't want his employees telling people about release dates!
maybe employees can lose their jobs if they tell release dates!
(btw, union is a reseller, so it doesn't matter when they tell release dates!)
maybe Nigo doesn't want people making knock-offs of his clothing!
maybe Nigo want's to make money!

money = "root of all evil"

money = evil

evil is something we use to describe our feelings, therefore it is a variable from person to person

to supervillans, evil is good, and they enjoy it, so evil = good

therefore

MONEY = GOOD

and Nigo is a very happy man

Sorry, I don't know if you clearly read my reply.

You seem to be taking every word as exactly literal. Using the word asshole was perhaps a slight exaggeration. And I didn't say that the BWS staff were assholes. You just equated this. I was merely proving a point that there are contemptious, detestable people working retail, and it does not help the shop's image at all, and turns off shoppers from going there.

I seem to have hit a soft spot.

Proof? Haha your 'proof' is really nothing but a fallacious argument. In logic and reasoning, that is called a "hasty generalization". This is when you take a sample size far too small, and apply this "generalization" to a larger population. Just because you had ONE conversation with a staff member who was very nice and helpful doesn't mean that ALL the staff are nice and helpful. This also works in the oppposite. Just because you had ONE bad experience with a staff member, doesn't mean all the staff are dicks.

I'm just pointing out technicalities. I know you have had NUMEROUS good experiences from BWS staff. Just pointing out the flaw in your reasoning.

And I repeat: I'm not applying this to BWS staff. I'm saying that in GENERAL, bad service in retail really turns you off.

And restaurant service is just like retail. There are people selling a product, people on the floor serving you and helping you to purchase the product...

Oh well, this topic has really been beaten to death.

Oh well, this topic has really been beaten to death.

"Just because you had ONE conversation with a staff member who was very nice and helpful doesn't mean that ALL the staff are nice and helpful."

i actually was helped by about 4 or 5 BWS employees last weekend, and had a conversation with one....

so in total, those 5 make a pretty big number in the staff...

but then again you weren't there, so you wouldn't know, so you shouldn't be making stuff up!

"And I didn't say that the BWS staff were assholes. You just equated this."

you're right, i did equate this from when you said

"I'm sure you've all had the experience walking into a shop where the people working there were total assholes to you; even arrogant"

since we were talking about BWS, you said t hey had bad customer service, and customer service is directly related to this thread, so you "implied" that they were assholes

and proof is actually the evidence or argument that compels the mind to accept an assertion as true

so my proof asserts my mind, and many minds that agree with me, and this also leads me to be on the same page as your comment about one bad worker affecting your opinion about BWS...

oh my god

i just actually had to look up euphemism to prove that i'm right

"When a phrase is used as a euphemism, it often becomes a metaphor whose literal meaning is dropped"

i said:

"i'm not actually beating it to death, i don't walk around with a baseball bat hitting it, but you could say i'm "overusing it" which is what an intelligent person would say instead of all these damn euphamisms...."

"beating it to death" is a euphemism because the literal meaning of hitting something until it dies is lost, and it becomes a metaphor for overusing the phase

Sorry about "beating this topic to death"... but I felt compelled to reply.

Why shouldn't I? Isn't it "make shit up day?". Yeesh.

Actually, I predicted you replying like this, because right after I wrote that line, I wrote this:

"I'm just pointing out technicalities. I know you have had NUMEROUS good experiences from BWS staff. Just pointing out the flaw in your reasoning."

Of course I know you have had good experiences with many BWS people. If I didn't acknowledge this, I would be guilty of my own Hasty Generalization fallacious argument. Again: Read before you post.

Yes we were talking about BWS. But again, if you used your 'superior' powers of deduction, you could have realized that I was talking about retail in general. That's why I wrote this...

"But a huge part of retail, especially floor staff is customer service. It's integral to any shop that wants a loyal following. I'm sure you've all had the experience walking into a shop where the people working there were total assholes to you; even arrogant. It totally turns you off from exploring the store further, even if you do like the clothes, and voila: wasted revenue."

No where there did I say it was BWS did I?

Anyways, the point is, bad customer service in retail equates to a bad shopping experience.

And like I said earlier. BAPE has a luxury of having its items so sought-after that even if they ever had bad customer service, people wouldn't give two shits because they want the clothes.

End of story.

I'm sick of arguing this.

so you admit to saying "even if they ever had bad customer service, people wouldn't give two shits because they want the clothes."

that is directly linked to bad service, which is directly linked to saying people who have bad customer service are assholes...
thank you..

its just the first impression ppl get from a store, the customer service.

the high end fashion stores, when u walk in, the sales may not seem to be the friendlest. but if u do ask them question, they would be as helpful as they can be. if they show any arrogance and not wanting to answer ur questions, that would be pretty bad. when u are wearing normal clothing into a LV store, do u feel look down upon on? I'm sure some would feel that way, but I dont think the sales would think "there comes another person who will just waste my time and not buy anything". Of course they would help you out if you have any sort of questions.

when i was at bws taipei, the sales answered me in 1 word answers for my questions. do i care? not really. their job is to provide service to its consumers, if they think they are at a higher level than the people paying money for the goods/services, then they are wrong. but who cares? it just happens that they get first dibs on some of the new releases. big deal, there are always other releases coming out. do u think bape will still be in after another 5 years? i doubt it.

both the sales and the consumers are humans, we all have good and bad days. everyone is entitled to their opinions. no need to lose any sleep on this issue.

it actually seems like all they get paid to do is stand around in the newest shit..get first dibs on everything..etc..

and to tell people that they dont have anything in their size at this moment.. to come back another day, before the store opens at 12

and the security guy gets to stand there and laugh at people who walk out empty handed..while he's getting paid to do nothing..

how the fuck did they get these jobs??

they probably also get to bang all dem chicks that work at that la perla store right next to 'em as a bonus..

that post reeks of jelousy

the lady at union is very nice..good customer service..likes to give info on releases and shit

she should go down to bws and teach those college students somethin about the retail game
actually, most if not all of the staff at BWS either dropped out or never attended college...

not true. the dudes at bape work there full time - you can't be seasonal or anything like that. i thought i would've liked to work at bape, but i can't hold down a full time job because i go to school and everything. i'd rather make all the money i can and just pay retail for bape.

gotta admit thou. in my opinion, BWS workers in Japan are lot more helpful than the workers in nyc. In japan, most workers will tell you what would be cooming out in the next 7 days or so, and they even told me the price and all the colors releasing. One of the NyC worker even told me i should STOP calling and go up there to ask whats releasing. Thats pretty rude i Think. Workers in Japan would never do that to me.

it depends who is working that day in BWS NYC..a lot of the workers do come off as assholes probably because they think they are better than you since they work there. But a couple of them are down to earth..mostly girls. its not like this is the only store like this..a lot of more expensive clothing stores have employees that act as if they are better than you.
