a-ron the don has been gone from aNYthing for something like 6 months (?) now & is currently in a legal battle with the brand he almost single-handedly built..
off bowery productions is the jump off for 2008. peep the interview heron preston did in 2 parts below..

15 different businesses under 1 umbrella?? it'll be interesting to see how much of that materializes. i'm guessing the focus will be on 1 or 2 main enterprises & the rest will be smaller, localized projects. ex. 1 being a streetwear brand, 1 being events promotions, 1 being an art gallery, 1 being a film production co, 1 being a record label, etc. however it works out.. it has me curious. having his own a space in soho can only lead to good things. always down to to promote other talented people. obviously semen/free simon, neckface, etc. will be closely involved.
i'm curious about doing things on a larger scale. with the streetwear boom (corny shit especially) & also the deaths of h.h. & semz it sounds like they're really ready to get their's. i just wonder on what kind of scale they mean..
and a tv show? sounds like a reality show.. that has to be the most wtf about the whole situation.

It's a cool concept but it's a little disheartening seeing him compare himself to a bunch of scenes that really woke up with a spur of the moment feel to them. You can't construct Supreme in the 90's or Stussy in the 80's; it just happened.
Still, if anyone can pull it off it's A-Ron. Maybe I'll pop an e-mail over.

well if anyone can recreate what made supreme pop in the 90s.. it's one of the guys responsible for developing their image in the first place

More updates on the projects from NY Times (http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2008/01/13/fashion/20080113_PULSE_SLIDESHOW_4.html)....
http://www.slamxhype.com/images/posts/the_wreck_center_off_bowery_nyt.jpg
"Residents of a sleepy SoHo block aren’t sure what to make of the Wreck Center, a store/performance space/art installation that has invaded their neighborhood like a post-apocalyptic circus. Decorated with graffiti, gold paint and 5,800 feet of Day-Glo masking tape, the space, designed by Rafael de Cárdenas, pops, to say the least. “Finally one came up to me,” said Aaron Bondaroff (above), the project’s ringleader, “and told me it was about time someone did something cool in the neighborhood again.” Until the end of February, when the building that houses the Wreck Center is torn down, Mr. Bondaroff, the downtown impresario better known as A-Ron, has planned a series of invite-only book signings, launch parties, art and music shows, even a little stand-up comedy; a storefront will sell the wares of all involved. “And as soon as everyone catches on,” he said, “it’ll be over.” That is, until May, when the Playboy channel broadcasts a documentary on the whole affair"
Real excited to see some more shots and info.
I like how everyone is kinda on the fence with this just incase it doesn't work out so they can all point! LOL

AARON BONDAROFF
is proud to introduce the Milanese artist
IVANO ATZORI
at a signing for his new book
DUMBO: Acts of Vandalism and Stories of Love
February 7th, from 5 pm on
75 Sullivan St
Soho
…..
Ivano Atzori was born in the 1976 and grew up in the periphery of Milan. He came into contact with the world of graffiti in the early 90’s, just like many others of his generation. He quickly dedicated himself fully to the lifestyle until he was, before long, one of the most respected writers in all Europe. In 2001, he opened King Kong, which steadily became known as the most valid underground boutique in Milan. Spazio I Am, an open space for artists, designers and partygoers, was opened a year later and sealed his presence in the Milan scene as the primary underground celebrity of the city. Without ever abandoning the intensity of the street, he started a new artistic career, participating in a variety of collective shows and collaborating with designers such as Costume National and Vivian Westwood. In 2004 he had a solo exhibition in Spazio Viafarini, one of the city’s most visited galleries which caused the media to focus even more attention on this inconvenient, exceptional and mysterious character. In a short time, Atzori became the ultimate discussion both in institutions that concern themselves with public order and in those that belong to the contemporary art circuit. In 2007, he participated in multiple new projects, including a collective show in London (KK: We Didn’t Invent Anything), as well as the French photography project Traces de rouge a levres. He is currently lives in New york, where he is preparing for his next show that will open this June at Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan.

Approximately two years ago, A-Ron from the brand aNYthing (who is no longer affiliated with aNYthing), started the aNYthing Glob (currently known as the The New York Glob) which was A-Ron's voice to the world. In his blog, he would take photos of guest who would drop by the office. His guest which included artists, musicians and friends had their pictures taken at his office's back door. A-Ron has taken those pictures and made it into the Back Door book. If you have followed A-Ron's blog from the start, this book will definitely bring back some memories.
