yeah basically.. and also to point out that a lot of people one here say they hate the mall because it's full of corporate brands etc. but it's also nice clothes, and the fact that diamond supply is now in malls, does that change people's opinions of that brand? of course all of us diamond supporters are going to say no.. but really deep down, you know all the people at high schools are gunna be flooded with diamond shirts by fall and it'll kinda make you not want to buy it anymore, but i still like the brand personally

They sell Alife at Up Against the Wall in Washington D.C
What kind of store is that and what do they sell?

Why is everyone so surprised about these mall stores?
The one thing that confuses me to no end is why HB kids think Diamond is some exclusive street-wear brand. Nick Diamond has said on many occasions that he is a skateboarding brand for skateboarders just like a Hawk or Girl. A street-wear brand like King Stampede is exclusive because it sells to a small number of boutiques which limit their numbers and distribution. But Diamond sells 1000s and 1000s of t shirts through Empire Distro and his t-shirts are $24.99 on web sites like Skate Warehouse (http://www.skatewarehouse.com) and mall chain stores like Zumiez next to Roxy and Volcom.
For years Nick Diamond's clothes have been sold in skate stores malls, chain stores and other mainstream places. This didn't just happen yesterday you newbz! Someone once said that he was getting sued for the Misfits parody because he made 35,000 t-shirts of that rip Over a few years. He's made some of the same exact shirts for many years now for all the people complaining about Crooks using Medusa over and over.
Again that's because he's a skate brand he's not in the same category as an IRAK NEW YORK or FL or Acapulco Gold so stop putting him in that cateogry. I'm sure Nick wouldn't argue with this at all because he has said he is a skateboarding hardware company. So leave him alone.what if he sells to malls? He never claimed to not be in malls. He would be the first one to admit his shirts can be found in 10 different skate shops in a city. The only ones who are in the wrong here are the HB kids on here who always assumed Diamond to be some secret hidden streetwear brand that they found on digitalgravel.com and that they were the first ones to wear Diamond at school. Meanwhile over on the other end of campus the skater clik has been wearing Diamond since 1993.
This is the problem with HB kids who think now all of a sudden they noticed Diamond in the mall and are bummed that everyone's gonna find out about it. When they were the LAST ONES TO FIND OUT ABOUT IT :P

rule #2 of hypebeast: if you talk about it on hypebeast it's not exclusive any more

I disagree completely. Shit is not just hot because it is super limited. I buy lots of rare fitted's(Huf, Supreme, Crooks, Stussy) but not only because they are, and not because people on hypebeast don't talk about them, but because they are innovate designs. I have seen HB discussions about many hats I own, they are still sick hats.
Example: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/9238/stussyheadzjd3.jpg
Even if this wasn't a limited hat I would still buy it. 'Nuff Said

This is the word directly from Nick (owner of Diamond Supply Co.)
Zumies has supported our hardgoods for years.
They sell the Diamond OG shirt in one color and Classic in 2 colors.
That is all I let them buy.
I cant really think of many skate companies that don't sell to them.

So just because all the other skate companies in the world sell to a store no matter how wack it is Diamond will be in it? I mean Zumiez sells Quiksilver Ezekiel, and Oneil even. I am getting so frustrated with this company. Used to be a fan but the more I read the owner talking about himself everyday on this board and the questionable business moves he makes "just beecause all the other skate brands are doing it" it makes me second guess what he's really doing with his company and the people who support him.

I don't need everything to be exclusive. I just want to buy clothes that doesn't sell between a Hot Dog on a Stick and an Abercrombie & Fitch store in the mall. Ill stick to real brands that sell in real streetwear boutiques that the head cheerleader and her jock boyfriend can't buy each other for their birthdays.

Of course it matters and you know it matters to you too. You complain about all the hypebeasts jacking up prices on things. Thats because they are finding it at certain stores.
Anyways you don't count because you admit to regularly shopping in malls for Ecko, Fubu, and Enyce.

So yeah, i dont see how you're making up stuff.
Whoa you actually went back to your old posts and deleted all the times you talked about wearing Fubu and Enyce and Southpole in the past? In all the old mall posts? lol have some pride instead of trying to cover up your embarassments. :o

Did you even read what Nick from Diamond said? He said he lets Zumiez buy THREE types of shirts (out of the 100s that Diamond has designed over the years) simply because of the fact that the store has supported their hardware for so long....don't forget Diamond is a SKATE company originally meant for SKATERS not streetwear jocking hypebeast bitches like most people on this board. Zumiez is a skate store, so it makes sense. Diamond only lets zumiez buy three shirts, very basic designs. So you dont have to worry about your precious exclusivity, you fucking lame.
(oh and before people tell me to stop jocking Diamond, I'm not. I think I own one of their shirts, I dont skate, I just think theyre a good company)

so zurejwen are you making fun of yourself? You just said diamond is for skaters not for streetwear hypebeasts but then you admitted that you don't even skate so what does that make you? Im not trying to diss just seein how you feel about wearing diamond if you're not a skater. doesn't that make you just like the other hb's out there?
and Failure you don't have a response for me besides that huh?

diamond was established as a skateboard/hardware brand long before it was a streetwear label. Skateboard bolts and screws at a mall-skateboard shop is pretty common so it's not surprising a few T's followed.

I said I had one diamond shirt that i believe was given to me. I am into the streetwear culture but I have my own steez and i dont just jump on the nuts of something because everyone else does (which is what makes someone a "hypebeast"). I post on this forum to discuss streetwear like all of you, but I don't let any hype influence where and how I spend my money.
I dont see how what i said was making fun of myself. I said I dont skate and i have almost no diamond shit. Thats not to say that I wont cop something of theirs if I think its hot, I'm actually gonna pick up the diamond x mighty healthy shirt when they hit the stores.
I was basically getting at what you said about not buying clothes in the mall regardless if you think the shits hot or not. Thats something I disagree with when it comes to alot of these hypebeast kids. If I think something is dope, I'll cop it, no matter where it came from.

yea i have always felt kinda odd wearing shit made for skaters...i only have the one diamond shirt, but i always felt that when it comes to tees if theres a design that you absolutely cant front on, i'll cop it. I've seen the shirt that says "if you dont skate you dont relate" and thats exactly right, i guess. Since companies like diamond have extended their brand to include alot of streetwear, i think its cool and i'll fuck with a shirt here and there but i wont just buy it cuz its a "hot" brand right now. I kinda have the same feeling about SB's to be honest. But i got a couple pairs because lets face it, they've released some hot colorways and the zoom air and puffy tounge makes em alot more comfortable than regular dunks. But i know they were meant for skaters.
So I'm cool with people wearing the shit, i guess, if thats your steez then do you. I'll cop some skater-type shit if it looks dope, but i for the most part dont fucks with it.

They are a chain store that is located in many malls across the country. They also have some locations in which they are freestanding. Umm, they pretty much sell what is hot at the time, when Miskeens were the thing they sold Miskeens, they have a ton of LRG, The North Face jackets, Rocawear, Akademiks, etc. But now they carry alot of "streetwear", first it started with Schmack, 10 Deep and Crooks and Castles, Mishka and Stussy were added later, and now I just saw Alife in UATW. I thought Alife was one of NYCs elite brands, and that you would be hard-pressed to find a retailer outside of Manhattan...guess I was wrong.
I understand Stussy because they always sold to malls but !? DF IS GOIN ON! In malls? Why

Diamond is a skate company and Zumies and Active are mainstream mall skateshops that sell every skate brand. I sell to both.
I have never said Diamond is streetwear, but the majority of it is exclusive to core skateshops and a few sneaker and streetwear boutiques. Like I had posted on here before..... Zumies buys all of our hardgoods in
mass quantities.
Bolts
Bearings
Griptape
Wax
and wheels. "Fillmore"
Even tho Zumies wants to buy my whole line of
Hoody's, tees, hats, jeans and whatever else we make....
Believe me when I say the numbers they order are beyond rediculous. I only sell them 2 logo tee shirt designs, one in 1 colorway and the other in 2 colorways.
"Stay Core, Stay Poor"
This is the motto used by many skate brands in my industry.
Diamond by all means does not take that approach.
We give up potential millions in annual sales by not selling Zumies/Active our whole line to keep the brands integrity and maintain the longevity we have had over the years. I understand the market and know as a consumer that shit gets played out really fast. This is why they only get what I allow them to have, which is not much.
Diamond has been approached many times by Up Against the Wall, which to me is much worse than being in Zumies so I denied them a Diamond account.
The funny thing is that Up Against the wall sells all of hypebeasts favorite streetwear brands as well as the Rockawears, Red monkey, Five Four and LRG.
I would much rather have Diamond on a shelf next to another skate brand then next to A urban/Hip Hop brand that is on a whole different side of the clothing spectrum than Diamond is.
As for the streetwear brands that are in The Up Against the Wall type stores, I understand it. Streetwear is the new urban, it makes sense.
Active is just like Zumies and they have a whole Hundreds and Crooks & Castles section at their many stores. I am pretty sure I have seen king Stampedes whole line in Active as well.
If you really want exclusive, print your own tees. it's easy.

and Yes Failure a big reason I buy the clothes is for the exclusivity. If you claim that this doesn't have any effect on the clothes you wear that is a complete lie and everyone on here would agree. Whether it's the main reason or just a small factor. it does play a part.

The funny thing about this thread is not that people are opposed to shopping at the mall, it's the reasons given. People dont wanna look like the A&E kid that makes sense. But they dont understand that they way they dress now is fitting into a certain group of people to begin with. Its only totally original if you rock a adult diaper and and face paint when you hit the clubs. But, then again youd be competing with George Clinton and Andre 300. All that exclusicity shit goes out the window when you go to a sneaker event or go to a concert that appeals to the kind of kids that dress like you.
What you really wanna say is..I dont wanna dress like the "mall cool guy" but Im ok with dressing like "the internet cool guy"
