What do you like? I mean you could go to the big name spots like Supreme and UNDFTD, or you could go somewhere else... It all depends on what you want. Like are you looking for clothes, kicks, SBs, higher end brands or just cool tees or what?..
I personally reccomend Brooklyn Projects in Echo Park, I went last weekend and their stock was the most impressive of any store ive been to in the last year (not for shoes though).

Anyways, if you can't find anything at Heavy Hitters, Advantis Ride, The Temple of Boom, Workmens, Fat Beats, Barracuda or Brooklyn Projects, perhaps you should go east and head down La Brea to Union, Stussy, Undefeated, Volcom and American Rag---or go west and down Fairfax to Turntablelab and Supreme.

Silverlake's got Kicks Sole Provider, Eat Well, Xlarge, Wacko and Giant Robot; Echo Park's got the Anti-Market, Han Cholo, American Apparel and Brooklyn Projects East; Santa Monica's got Undefeated, Fred Segal, Horizon's West and other mom and pop shops; And Pasadena's got Grey One (and Neo39 which bridges the gap between Footlocker and sneaker boutiques), while Long Beach has Proper.

i'm in LA for a couple of days for a funeral :( its not exactly a nice vacation, but i want to be able to see a bit of the city before i leave

Go to Supreme, Brooklyn Projects, Sportie LA and Turntable lab on Melrose/Fairfax and then head down La Brea to Stussy, Union and UNDFTD. Theyre all pretty close together as far as LA goes and you could potentially see a lot of stuff in a small amount of time.

a. did you read what i wrote? or do you not understand what "distribution" means and how it could affect where you can find the shoes??

b. another reason why alife footwear is so much more widely available is because it is footwear. do you have any idea what footwear minimums are compared to t-shirt minimums? there's no comparison. it would be financially retarded/impossible for alife to release as many shoe models as they do and keep the #s really low

c. you can't deny they're made on foreign soil. look at the label

How does the design process go? You design them, then what?

Mostly I do the designs on my laptop, as I would anything else. If you look carefully, you'll see that the kicks have a clean, graphic-design feel to them... Anyway, after that, I send the sketches to the development office in Taiwan; receive the protos and correct them via photoshop and illustrator; email the changes and wait for the second round. Next come the salesman samples, production, financing and delivery. This is a very small operation and basically a one-man show. I'm involved in all aspects.

yes, if you walk straight from fairfax to la brea, its about a 20 min walk.

Whats good Hypebeasts?

I rarely post anything here, but I do a lot of reading to stay up on things. Anyway I have a problem that I'm sure you guys can help me with, so here goes:

I'm planning a trip to the LA area around the end of August, and, although I've been to LA a bunch of times, its usually on family business.

This time, however, me and my girl are flying down to just kick it. We'll still be staying with fam and all that, but our time is pretty free to do whatever. So I was trolling through the topic looking for places to shop and spots worth stopping by when we're on our trip, but the big problem is that when you guys mention places, and stores, and the neighbourhoods they're in... I don't really have any concept of what's near where, and how to get to them, and how far they are from where I'm staying.

So I'm staying in Irvine, with my cousin, and he says its pretty easy to get to a metro train stop and that taking that should give us decent access to the city core.

Can anyone help with metro directions from Irvine, to must see spots and good shopping areas? Even if theres an area with like a few good stores and a decent spot for J's that you guys would recommend, that would be great, thanks!

I know I have to check out the Johnny Cupcakes store for sure, because that place looks crazy! I'd also be down for checking out Mr. Cartoon's spot, I heard he opened a store in Fairfax (maybe? might not be fairfax... I don't actually know where that is) or maybe the BBC store, or the Bape one. Anything worth seeing haha.
