Hey-

Writing a paper for school, and I was just wondering what the process was for acquiring a Nike account (what you have to go through for different levels, etc). Help me out?

I'd hit up a local Boston shop with a Nike account for info.

yeah, you'll most likely just get a bunch of "i heard you have to do this" type hearsay which doesnt do you a lot of good for your paper.

i think thats actually the last place he needs to look. since they ARE nike, they dont have to worry about securing accounts like boutiques do.

I heard you have to have a store open for 30 days and be able to sell 200 pairs a month or 10 pairs a day while dancing the tosieroll high on pcp.

people at niketown wouldnt know anything since they have no connection to the sales managers who manage the different accounts. there are different levels of accounts and there are different things required of each.

one thing is, you CANNOT sell nikes on consignment. INSTANT denial.

Nike accounts are never given before a store opens. Sometimes Nike will make exceptions for high profile clients. Nike accounts are given after a store has been opened and an appointment with a Nike rep is arranged.
The rep will decide whether your store would be a good market for the shoes, and whehter giving you Nikes is feasible. Nike tries to avoid saturating a market, and is cautious of their brand image. They are also going to see if you can move product.
If you get an account you will have a minimum of what to purchase. That's why stores that sell Jordans makes their customers buy a t-shirt for the shoes. Essentially you buy what you want, but it's from a prefabricated list.
To get the Tier O accounts takes time and connections. Nike SB is also a beast to get. They have a different rep, and tries to only sell to skate shops. But, it's the same crap, you have to buy a lot of dumb shirts and accessories.
Hope this helps.

we have a nike golf account. i dont believe their is any minimum for what you have to buy. you do however need to buy certain stuff to sell certain promotional stuff. nike has different reps for everything, even nike golf clothing has a different rep then the nike golf equipment. wholesale is about 30-50% off retail and you can buy 'personal use' which is another 40% off of wholesale&). out of all the golf suppliers nike is by far the easiest to do business with. they really dont give a shit how much you put on personal use and they dont give a shit how much we sell each year. with www.nike.net we can buy anything right off the internet at any amount(no phone calls or bs), if we just want 1 pair of shoes we can simply order them, and i think they even drop ship. to give you an idea, this one pair of shoes we sell comes with a $125 price tag on the box, we sell them for $65 say we get them around 50-55 and at personal use i can get them for $30, too bad i cant get jordans like that:(

here's an idea
CALL Nike?

While they might be a little hesitant, just tell them you're doing a paper for school and you need the basic info on getting a nike account

That's not going to happen. Before you know who you are trying to get a hold of it takes weeks to even get anything but a computer/machine. Once you do get a hold of somebody what they tell you will be very basic and they typically have little knowledge about the ins and outs of the better accounts (ie - the ones that include things that people on this board would want).
