ok, SOHO is NOT NEW YORK, the day i see back packing and tight jeans in Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, or Staten Island then i would say yes New York does back pack. (I didnt even mention Northern New York) The fact is people confuse "New York" for Soho. And Kanye West does get love, but most of the time i dont hear people say "O i wna dress like him!", you know what i mean?

I like fitted jeans, because I can get a give a good impression to anyone of any culture. If I wear mad baggy jeans, I notice that things change around me, it's like white people start jetting up ahead, cops follow me or ask me questions, shit is stupid. But I also like my jeans to fit and not sag all over the place.

yup, I take the A train from port authority to work and I always pass by 34th st/penn station stop... actually I just realized that the A is express, so you'd prolly wanna get off at West 4th St stop, and hop on the C or E for the next stop (which would be spring street)
BonitaApplebum
07-14-2006, 03:15 AM
You can take the C or E from Penn Station and it goes straight to Spring, no transfers, if it's after like 10pm take the E though because the C skips Spring.
I'll be hitting up NY and the rest of the east coast next month.

I know Williamsburg and Greenpoint are hipster/overpriced.

I'm about as white as you can get.
stop gentrifying my city! sorry...i had to say it!
lol but i don't know much about brooklyn places...however if you're willing to not be cool with all the hipsters downtown...different areas in upper manhattan still have lower rent and are becoming less "ghetto" since tons of students and people trying to push out the low income families that live there. this would be either harlem on the west side around columbia/city college....or more uptown by inwood
oh but if you're a cute single white boy...i don't mind =P

I'm going to NYC in a couple weeks, just wanted to see what stores are worth checking out. If you have addys, please cut and paste them below as well so I can look them up and plan my visit. For those of you who are from New York, if I wanted to check out these stores, what's the most efficient route/order I should go? Which ones are really worth going to?
Hopefully this thread will be very useful to anyone who plans a visit to New York. Doesn't have to be just Streetwear, but if it's got cool sneakers, toys, etc., post it.
Stores I plan on checking out (can someone post the addresses, I don't know where they're at):

so far i was most impressed by
1) recon
2) DQM
3) reed space
4) rival
didn't get a chance to hit up goliath and atmos but i don't know if it's worth the hourlong trip to go up there as you can pretty much find everything down in soho/lower east side.
alife was ok, they had a huge sale today but nothing worth getting.
disappointed by supreme, the store is one small room and didn't have anything good.

I will be heading up to this great city of New York this weekend, and was just wondering what the most efficient way to get around the city is i.e subway, tour bus, taxi, on foot, etc. Mind you, I will be a tourist so any other tips or information that will make this a smooth trip will be greatly appreciated. Thank You
The best stores for shopping are walking distance from each other...the lower Manhattan area is pretty concentrated.
yeah most of the 'streetwear' type of stores would be around that area and imo 3 hrs is good if u walk quickly and dont get lost

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get to Soho from the airport, and what good shops are there? I know most of the shop names in NY but have no clue which are the ones I should most visit because my time there will be short. Any help is greatly appreciated.

first of all be more specific....JFK/LGA? Subway/Bus?
the A/C/1/J/M/Q/R/W/Z/4/6 all get to Canal St.
jus take any of them to canal and walk...dont take a local unless u have to, ull be on it allll day. if ur comin from JFK jus take the A Express Uptown to Canal St./ walk to broadway/ take a left ur there. not sure about LGA...prolly have to catch a cab
