I have had three different jackets and my bonfire knocks them all out the box (www.bonfiresnow.com). I am a little biased since they are locals and all...but seriously, check them out.

burton

I have no beef with Burton (I think they make quality products)...but I don't know how anyone on this forum would want to roll with what is essentially the Ambercrombie and Fitch of snowboarding. Burton's fine, but expect to see the same jacket on at least 40 other people on the mountain.

I don't know how I feel about the comparison of Abercrombie and Fitch to Burton. They make a quality product that integrates fashion and funtion. Check out their Idiom line, Mark XIII, Audex, Analog and even the Ronin line. There's a reason why there will be others wearing the same gear but since their line is so big I'm sure you can find something that everyone doesn't have. And I doubt Kaws and Mastermind would be doing collabs with Abercrombie.

Another brand to look at is Holden, more fashion oriented but still functional. Or Special Blend or Foursquare.

burton does streetwear collabos all the time... the opening of the tokyo burton store was on the front page of hypebeast and other such blogs

I agree...cappel or holden. some of their jackets are very nice. Also, Sessions has come out with some nice stuff this year as well. Be ready to drop about 200-300 for a decent jacket though.

By the way, I'm so sick and tired of those crazy prints (L-R-G) I see all over the mountain. It's even worse when the individual who's rocking them can't even ride down the mountain without hitting a tree.

^^ haha so true
dudes are all about their style now
i have friends who wear the dirtiest shit and are some of the best riders i know
my friend got to be a pro by wearing second hand gear he picked up at the salvation army and the ski swap

if you're really worried about your style i recommend holden, holden is an amazing company with some great riders on their team
however i saw a girls jacket of theirs for $640 canadian at my local spot
i picked up gear from a few years ago for about $300 though

hands down, the iDiom CMYK white 3L jacket. with the cmyk pattern visible through the semi-transparent white gore-tex xcr shell. the new grayscale series looks more sophisticated/understated, but nothing beats the cmyk iDiom line.

whoever said grenade was not worn by alot of people must be on crack. i was on the slopes earlier this week and every other kid had a grenade jacket or grenade pants or grenade stickers all over their snowboard. i'm sure a ton of people are getting on the grenade thing, i mean they sell em at places like zumiez.

if you want something really nice. i agree with the person hwo posted before me and said iDiom. very very very very very very (and about as many verys as you can think of) nice stuff.

yes grenade is everywere now. being sold at zumiez and other places like that you should exepct so. I really recomend holden, by far one of my favorite brands for outerwear right now. there new hemp collection is dope, and ultra rare, not alot of people rockin holden. Other brands i recomend are
OAKLEY 8), air blaster, section, 686, i cant think of anymore :(

try and stay away from burton, so much hype from shaun white.
if you go burton, the ronin line is the best.

Burton has and will always make quality stuff no matter if its the "it" brand. I've owned 3 Burton jackets and were very happy with the quality of them. Also owned special blend which was very nice, and a bonfire which work well for warmer conditions. Im looking into 686 for my next jacket, a 686XDakin collabo. 686 seems to have very good quality and features for the price.

SPYDER?!!! LOL dude that shit is for old people.

Burton as an Abercrombie and Fitch?!!! What are you from the midwest or the suburbs or something? Its more like the innovative bad ass company that after multiple decades evolved into the toyota of snowboarding. No BS image, theyre for real. Burton is real, and well really big.

I personally wear an Arcteryx Theta AR and I definitely reccomend it. Although it lacks some shred specific features (i wish it had a powder skirt), its the best looking and has the best materials. Legit company too.

I also like my friend's lumberjack print down coat from special blend, and the burton idiom stuff with the pinstripes.

All the expensive Burton jackets are made for performance/comfortability when on the mountain. If anything Burton provides the best snowboarding jackets in the market. Not to mention look at Burton's snowboard roster, worldwide professionals, definately some of the sickest riders from around the globe. A lot of the Burton jackets are rider specific, they produced a jacket for each Burton sponsored rider built to their standards. Then later they were released to the public.

I'm not saying that they are the best, but Burton are the innovators of snowboarding for a reason.

P.S. Helly Hansen also carries some really nice jackets.

Yea the midwest :o . I am not even sure what that was supposed to mean...but I live in Portland at the moment. I guess if I was living in Chicago that would somehow change something?

You guys are tripping off the A&F reference. It wasn't meant to be a dig at Burton's quality (I already went over this). My point was that I find it kinda ironic that on a site where exclusivity is so important everyone is so willing to jump on a brand that is SOOOO common. You can bet whichever Burton jacket you decide on you will be wearing the exact same thing as 10-12people in any lift line. Last year I was at Whistler, Big Bear/Snow Summit, Mt Hood Meadows, Skibowl, Willamette Pass, and Bachelor... Burton is pretty much the official outift. Thats great, they are excellent jackets...but I personally don't like wearing the same exact shit everyone else has (I thought that was the point of this site? ). Since a snowboarding jacket is a piece of performance clothing I certainly wouldn't sacrafice quality or performance to have some style...but since I can get an equally good product from Bonfire or Holden (or whoever) and not look like a lemming I will do so.

Hopefully that clears it up a bit.

Personally I think it would be pretty hard finding someone who has the exact same burton outfit on the slopes... Burton makes about 20 or more styles of jackets with anywhere from 1 to 5 different color/ patterns. Not to mention about the same about of pants. Thats a lot of different combination consumers and dream up. But hey maybe everyone is rockin the same burton stuff due to store like zumiez carrying it and mass media.. I saw about 5 ppl wearing the same shawn white pin stripe. It not the company.

Yea I was really speaking more about the jackets. Not that it matters anyway...but I have insomnia and talking about snowboard jackets is as good as anything else I suppose.

No snowboarding for me this year (medical issues) but I know last year if you had any of that burton plaid stuff you had a lot of company. I remember my friend pointing out to me in whistler two dudes on the same lift (so 2 out of 4 ppl on that lift) wearing the same exact houndstooth pants/jacket combo.

The shawn white stuff is always going to be hugely popular on the mountain, but thats shawn white...nothing to do with the company. I like all the bandandas that popped up after shawn white got big too :)

I have seen three of these jackets on people downtown:
http://images.usoutdoorstore.com/usoutdoorstore/products/full/b_down_jkt_rbrn_07.jpg

It's not even just burton...those oakley jackets are everywhere too. All I know is that I have yet to see my bonfire jacket at any of the mountains I have been to and that suits me just fine (people can always see me coming right? ).

For the record I am wearing a burton AK zip up sweatshirt right now so again this is not Burton hate.

Yea I know the exact jacket your talking about, it goes for like 129 at most sporting good stores so everyone had that.. and of course everyone rocked the bandanna that it came with.. posers haha. I totally get where your coming from, I've been riding burton boards, bindings, and boots for the past 10 years so i've seen the company blow up soo mush since them.. which is good for biz.. I think its funny how everyone started the bandanna thing after shawn white tho.. no one realize the he didnt even wear a bandanna, it was a burton micro fiber face mask thing that hung down like a bandanna bc of his helment.. I could take about snowboarding all night and day haha
