Customs Charges and so forth

Hey.... for online stores in the UK, how do custom charges and shipping work???? I was just wondering before I made a purchase from UK store... also is it different than when I purchase from a UK seller on ebay???? or do custom charges only apply to official stores and independent sellers just do their own thing for custom charges???? Lemme know thanks in advance8)

for ebay items do you have to pay customs tax???? I think it's only the shipping fee of the sellers converstion on shipping...... and only customs tax on online stores.....????? again thanks in advance
