Threadless is a store that holds design contests every month, and then allows the members to vote on which design should be printed on the next t-shirt. Have you guys seen their designs? If so, what do you think?

some designs are cool and innovative, but some designs are more like wtf and way too tongue in cheek.

threadless grossed well over $6 mil this year and could surely compensate design winners better.

this is the furthest thing from streetwear . first they use american apparel t shirts. there is nothng wrong with that type of clothing but if you like it then you're probably more into urban outfitters type brands and abercrombie type shirts. its a very specific college aged middle america white clothing company. not close to the streets by any means

the whole concept is cool, but the execusion and compensation for the winners is pretty terrible. they have limits on the designs and usually only print a certain style which is lame.

Not only that but a bunch of 14 year old wannabe web designers are the ones grading the designs. The shirts are a bunch of horribly involved illustrations to convey some lame idea like Stalin getting drunk or two scuba divers hugging underwater. Shit is lame, plus they pushed out $6million in tshirts to every soccer mom in America so there is nothing interesting or unique about any of the designs. It's trash.

I like some of the designs that win
If I like it I'll buy it whether it's "street" or not.
They could compensate winners a lot more but they dont have to, it is a buisiness.
