The game has been poluted.....
streetwear is officially dead. Same shit comming out all over the place. Recycled shit, every company gots a polkadot hoody now.g-unit bit a clothing co, diddy bit a 10 deep, there are fakes all over the place. This past season there were a lot of crappy shirts. Man what the hell happened? Nothing different commin out.

Damn someone needs to revive shit and drop something fresh. Its either a shirt or hoody or hat. thats it that streetwear company's do.

Maybe 7 shirts,
2 hoody's same graphix different colors,
Another 2 hoodys with diff graphix than above also both diff colors,
Maybe a sweater.
A new era hat
Another hat...shit

LRG is a fucking joke, Alife is a fucking joke, BAPE doesnt and never even did exist to me as being labeled streetwear, lets call that bubble pop wear.

this is whats wrong with so much of this board and so many peoples OPINIONS in general in relation to fashion. STREETWEAR is not just polkadot hoodies or tees with quotes from rappers. Most people hopped on the trend because they had hit that point in their life where THEY NEEDED a trend to attach to. Wearing whatever rappers were wearing was too expensive, brash, and contrived so STREETWEAR FILLED THE GAP.

Honestly streetwear can never DIE because its not about the moment, streetwear is dedicated to alot of peoples lives. I dunno A-ron personally, but the folklore about dude makes it clear that even if dude grows up he never gonna not be that type of "street" which the style has been meant to represent. Urban Skating isn't gonna die, streetlife and basic urban foolery, thuggery and druggery, isn't gonna die either, and the dirtbags from which the style was born will continue to be regardless of whether or not the MAINSTREAM is content with, or fed up with, replicating the styles they create. To Some Streetwears 15 minutes of fame may be up, but looking at how the worlds reacted all the replications it has clearly been picked up for for a second season, so its just a time game until something "more now" deads it.

As far as to real streetwear and what that really is on some levels its better then ever. To me supreme has had an AMAZING last few seasons and done things brands in the genre had never done before. Look at how the streets have viewed sportwear over the last 20 years, Supreme nailed two in one season, PE and STATER and MOBB DEEP and M&N, its crazy, like thats an ALL TIME HIGH TOO ME. timberland collabo, damn it doesn't get much better

to me streetwear will never die, because that brands th will always be IT will never stop doing it regadrless of whether is cross the board cool like it is now, because to those people it always will be COOL.

STREETWEAR IS FAR FROM DEAD. ITS JUST NOW EVERY KID HAS PHOTOSHOP AND THINKS THEY CAN DESIGN. THE INTERNET GIVES THE ILLUSION THAT THERE'S A LOT OF REAL BRANDS, BUT TOO MANY ARE FLAVORS OF THE MONTH, AND COMPLETE JOKES.

IF YOU SEPARATE THE REAL FROM THE WACK, THERE REALLY AREN'T THAT MANY BRANDS NOW.

TOO MANY PEOPLE JUST TRYING TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK WITHOUT SPENDIND TOO MUCH TIME. PUT SOME NAS LYRICS ON A TEE, AND YOU CAN PROMOTE IT ON THE INTERNET AND MAKE $$$$.

INTERNET STREETWEAR IS DEAD. AS LONG AS THERE'S ARTISTS AND DOWNTOWNS OF THE WORLD, STREETWEAR WILL NEVER BE DEAD.

SO BEFORE YOU POST ANOTHER POST MAKING YOU FEEL ALL HIGH AND MIGHTY, FUCK OFF.

WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU? YOU HAVE A BRAND? IF YOU REALLY UPDSET, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

i think the problem is that alot of new jacks are buying up everything tahts coming up

so whack brands keep pumping out stuff instead of being weeded out through natural selection, and strong brands simply feel content pumping out different colorways of the same shirt

On another note, a lot of heads got it twisted and thought all over prints were streetwear and that shit got played out so hard that those fools don't know what to do now.

I totally agree with homi brands are gonna keep producing what sells...its just good business....and i just wanna add that people bitching need to look outside of the same 5 brands that get raped on here every week....10 deep this the hundreds that blah blah blah too many people hype the same shit theres so many brands doing dope stuff that never get talked about.....myslef personally i like what supremes been dropping..neighbourhood....phenomenon/swagger.....a couple from revolver theres pieces from some many other brands that are dope......so look around and stop fucking complaining the shit is so corny

Do YOU have a brand? You sound pretty upset too.

ACTUALLY, I HAVE WORKED FOR BRANDS. I DO RELATED STUFF NOW TOO.

I HAVE NO PROBLEM CALLING WACK BRANDS OUT. SO MUCH SHIT IS HORRIBLE THESE DAYS, BUT A LOT OF STUFF ISN'T SUCCESSFUL EITHER. CLOTHING ALWAYS WILL BE THIS WAY. BUT, YOU WON'T SEE ME CALLING OUT BLANKET STATEMENTS ABOUT THE STATE OF SOMETHING THAT'S BIGGER THAN ME.

YEAH, A LOT OF ART IS WACK NOW, A LOT OF EVERYTHING IS WACK NOW. BUT THERE'S ALWAYS GOING TO BE DOPE STUFF IN EVERY CATEGORY.

IF YOU REALLY FEEL SOMETHING IS DEAD, WHY ARE YOU ON THE INTERNET COMPLAINING? THIS FORUM IS FILLED WITH 16 YEAR OLDS, AND WE KNOW THAT 16 YEAR OLDS ARE JUST TREND HOPPERS..............................

I THINK THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT WE LOOK TO HYPEBEAST.COM TO TELL US WHAT STREETWEAR IS, WHEN SOME STUFF ON THIS SITE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING ELSE.

I DEFINE STREETWEAR AS SURF / SKATE / BIKER / INDUSTRIAL RELATED.

KARMALOOP SELLS A LOT OF RAVER AND EMO LOOKING STUFF. PAUL FRANKISH. FRUITY PATTERNS ON AMERICAN APPARELL ARE NOT STREETWEAR.

LATER.

I never said streetwear was dead that was the dude who started thread.
You left out hip-hop on your list.
I agree about KL...they don't care about this game at all they just wanna profit off of it, without caring about it, supporting it, being involved or adding anything to it. They shoulda stuck to UFO pants.

yes i know streetwear is a large thing and not just 10 deep, hundreds, king stampede ect... Yes these company's have some dope shit in their line up but there are so many new brands comming out just diluting streetwear. these new brands do the same shit the leading brands do. All over prints, large graphix ect. Right now i think some of these leading brands need to go with shirts without graphix and concentrate more on the cut & sew and on having a higher quality shirt/hoody/jacket.

It sucks that these new brands bite hard and kill a style. Its like the Usher song "Yeah" when it first came out it was fresh and different and dope. Not so many hard beats over a R&B singer's vocals out then. But the song got sooo much radio play that it got old quick and other rappers bit the format of that song. Same shit happened with street wear in my opinion.

I think brands need to concentrate more on the quality. This is comming from a streetwear consumer (fan). I dont make shirts or run a brand nothing. this is just an observation i have made. Lately i have found myself buying "streetwear like" clothing. Clothing from brands that use high quality material but are not streetwear brands at all. They just use higher quality material and might have only one or two item's in their stock that are "streetwearish" and dont have any drawings or logos on their hoody's.

An example is a Trovata hoody i recently bought. Simple hoody without any drawings or logos on it but nice quality, 300 billz on sale for 240.

homi
12-06-2006, 11:55 PM
nah man i feel u on that point

i think part of it is me maturing and seeing through the hype. another part of it is me looking out more for details, fit and materials

on a t-shirt i might mainly look out for design, but i dont think some of the bigger brands should focus on blanks and shit like that

i see more brands doing cut and sew and stepping up their quality as i feel that will really legitimize what they're doing

homi
12-06-2006, 11:59 PM
on another note i would consider higher end brands like visvim, MHI, japanese repro denim brands, supreme , prps, etc streetwear as well

these brands are actual clothing lines, and provide good contrast to the more t-shirt and hoody based "hyped brands" most discussed as streetwear on here

I hate to threadjack, but why are ya'll putting down Southern Rap? Luda, Kast, Lil' Wayne, Cee-lo, Jeezy, Clipse. You can't tell me none of those cats are good lyricists. Hell, I'd rather listen to Trick Daddy than Juelz Santana.

Not all the Dirty is about snappin' and krunk and gutter and booty bass. But, I defy you to find better club bangers than the South :)

Guess it's a matter of opinion, though.

homi
12-07-2006, 03:13 AM
nah south rappers are good for what they are,
they got some good rhymes, and great production backin em.

the only beef i think some people may have with the south is that they still arent on the same lyrical level as some NY cats have known to be

Maybe this chapter of streetwear is dead, but you can't generalize like that.
You gotta admit, streetwear hasn't been this interesting in a long time so I'm looking forward to the next chapter.
