Ok I've been using paypal for like 2 years and I was a good customer on ebay with a flawless feedback etc. Everything was fine until my earnings began to increase. I initally made like 50US per month, then 100US, then 300US, and it eventually came to a point that I earned 2000US in 1 and a half months on paypal. I did many things such as reselling clothes, phones, forex, stocks, high yield investments, etc. I even made money off playing games and selling my accounts and items.
and GUESS what? This happened last week:
A customer reversed a payment of 500US
"Dear _______ ,
It has come to our attention that you may be the recipient of potentially
unauthorized funds. We have initiated an investigation into this event. In the
meantime, we have placed a temporary hold on the funds in question until the
investigation is complete. This temporary hold will show as a deduction in your
available balance. In the meantime, you are free to continue transacting using
your PayPal account."
I thought, fine, TAKE IT YOU A_SSHOLE! I'll earn more than he'd ever steal. But no the nightmare didnt end. On the same day, paypal "limited" my account and said I couldnt withdraw, recieve or send money, because of "unreasonable and suspecious behavior". Not only did I lose the 500US that i EARNED, but I also lost the remaining 1500US from MY ACCOUNT THAT WAS MINE TO BEGIN WITH. They made me fax all my info to confirm my identity such as photo ids, phone bills, credit card, bank account, phone number, etc. I'm not 18 yet so luckily I used my dad's name for everything. They recieved it and emailed me for the phone number and name of my supplier and tracking info for all my transactions.
OK, this is the point where i say WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF! . WHAT RIGHT DO THEY HAVE TO DO THIS? I confirmed all my information and they keep asking for more. What if i sold virtual goods such as game accounts? How can i give them shipping info and supplier phone number?
Ok, so whatever, I tried my best and faxed them whatever they asked me to show them. BUT THEY KEEP ASKING FOR MORE. AND NOW THEY ARE ASKING FOR THE SAME STUFF THAT I ALREADY FAXED THEM(AND WAS CONFIRMED).
I always thought paypalsucks.com was a joke until today. I looked at their forums and different sites and realize that alot of people are in my position right now. According to the experiance of others, they usually say my money is too high of a risk and they must keep it for 180 days. ANOTHER WORDS, THEY'RE TAKING MY 2000US TO RECIEVE INTERESTS FROM THE BANK, F***ERS. 2000 FROM ME AND MILLIONS from other people.
There are other scenarios where people were selling purses and when the buyers recieved it, they reported as not recieved, and they get their money back AND the purse.

THEY STOLE 20000 FROM A SITE WHO WAS DONATING MONEY TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED.<---IT WAS FOR THE KATRINA TRAGEDY!

verifying ur account is JUST so they know more about u. This helps them when they want to take more money and retrieve money from your bank without ur permission. Once u verify, doesnt matter if u delete ur account or info, they will still have it in their records.
Basically, with or without verification they attack any seller with alot of money.
HERE, LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR:
If you go through transactions in/out of ur account that totals 500-700US or more in a month, you will VERY likely go through a limitation. And depending on how good of an escuse they come up with, you most likely wont see ur money back.
Paypal is a monster that we have created. ITS NOT DYING BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE STANDING UP TO THEMSELVES. I am going all this trouble trying to get my dad to understand the situation and speak in my behalf since I am not 18 yet and i used his identity. I filed several complains in numerous government organizations including the FTC and the online FBI. I am preparing to get a professional lawyer to write a threatening letter. I am planning on calling the local police in a few days or a little more(I will not make it this big yet just in case they decide to give it back). I am posting in 52 forums, even in those that i dont post in to let people know about paypal's threat.
I might spend more time and money than i ever lost, but FOR WHAT REASON? This isnt just about MONEY ANYMORE. They DONT HAVE ANY RIGHTS TO DO WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOW. They are CORRUPTED, and is ILLEGALLY holding onto my funds. I dont care how long or how much it takes. If they dont die I will not let go.

I do the same thing. Just made sense to do anyways. Imagine it as leaving cash on your nightstand instead of pulling out the drawer and just throwing it in there; it takes like a second to do and is much safer.

Someone in Brasil stole some ladies cc info. He bought an item from me for $180. Paypal freezed the funds for the transaction three days later. Since I was lazy I was lucky because I did not send it out yet. Their messages stated to wait until they finish their investagating. I waited and about 10 days later the person filled a chargeback. I mentioned to PayPal that they already froze the funds and there was nothing I could do. In the end they charged me $10 for the chargeback that was not my fault. I called them up to explain it and a half hour later they gave me back my $10.
Their communication and rules are weak but it is the best way to get funds. I would've hated to be one of those people who trusted Western Union and got a fake money order.

dats wack do u think paypal will let you go with a negative account balance? if u ever have a negative balance they eventually take it from your bank account/cc without ur permission because u agreed that they could do so when u signed up!
If u delete ur bank account they still have your info in their record so u cant run away!

10 days ago I claimed a file, because a seller said he had problems with PAYPAL and was unable to get the money. His account was also limited by PAYPAL. He said PAYPAL will refund my payment of $127.
After I claimed the file PAYPAL mailed me to wait 10 days for respons of the seller.
Here the mail I received from PAYPAL on the 10th day.
We have concluded our investigation of your Buyer Complaint. The details of
this claim are listed below.
We have decided in your favor, and as a result, have attempted to recover
funds from the seller.
The maximum amount we were able to recover was $127.00 USD. This amount
has been credited to your PayPal account. Please allow up to five business
days for this adjustment to be reflected in your PayPal account.
If you are due any additional amount from the seller, we will make our best
effort to recover the balance from the seller.
If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed
to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the
seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account
privileges.
I'll post the result.

keep this in mind. PAYPAL WILL ALWAYS GO IN FAVOUR OF BUYERS. All sellers are unhappy and treated unfairly but thats how they make money and stay in business. There will always be more buyers than sellers. Thats how they do business. THEY ARE FUKIN EVIL AND CORRUPTED

NO SELLER PROTECTION!! a lot of people i know run "diy" record labels, myself included, and tons of them have been screwed from buyers overseas, thank god i haven't yet. not like i'd give a shit if they did, what they got a free CD or LP, big deal. if it happens a lot i'd be pissed though, i don't sell anything to France. they have fucked me HARD off eBay unrelated to my label multiple times.

Just this week I've had almost $3000 in my PayPal account and nothing has happened, but I'm about to put all that money into my bank account just in case. With all the eBay stores and their monthly income being at least in the 1000's, why don't their accounts get frozen?

yo im telling you right now that this dude is speaking the truth..i went thru the EXACT SAME ISH! i accumulated about $750 in my account by selling things and then i cancelled one of my credit cards on my account and for some strange reason they decided that my card was stolen or lost and put a limitation on my account preventing me from withdrawing money or even sending money in anyway.. even after explaining that i just simply cancelled it and requested a new one they still kept the limitation on my account and made me fax them so many damn documents its not even funny..were talkin bank statements, copy of drivers license, credit card statements and many more things..then to top it off my bank switched companies (it changed from a Sky Bank to Huntington Bank) so therefore they sent me new atm cards and such so that just further complicated things..it was absurd..now like many ppl previously stated as soon as i get money like that in my account i send it to my bank account immediately.
