View Full Version : uniqlo S002 denim: usa vs. japan comparison

well, ive been into uniqlo denim for a minute. theyre dirt cheap (roughly 30 bucks), wear well, and have a nice indigo, very different from levis, in the same price range. i picked up a few when i go visit my girlfriend in tokyo, and joe (invassioon! ) hooked up a pair from NY. so heres a comparison of the 2, same denim, same model, same 36" waist, unaltered length.

first obvious difference is size. the japan ones seat runs smaller, and inside pocket diameter is smaller. japan one also doesnt have tags stating size as blatantly positioned.

usa button has a vintage grey/brown color to it

japan has a more orange copper tint

other than that, the japanese one is suprisingly longer (uniqlo japan offers tailoring services when you pay). same thread, same weight denim, same patch on rear (leather, stamped S002).

for some reason it seems as tho the japanese ones are darker. they look great tho.

UNIQLO is the brand and the stores...like gap, but japanese.

nah theres a couple stores in jersey and one in soho is opening soon...until then, theyve been opening temporary stores in freight containers!! http://www.uniqlo.com/flagship/#campaign

hahah yeh that shits nuts. the whole seasonal store/temp store thing is fucking nuts to me.
next time im out in japan (january) im planing on bringing back some s002s, either online sale stylee or consignment at the shop. well see. i always end up blowing all my dough on random crap.

just wondering if anyone has a pair of uniqlo's. I can get hooked up w/ a pair from HK. Hows the fit? do i need to get larger than my US waist size or anything?

and i think i'm gonna get the tapered skinny fit jeans. Probably the closest fit to a.p.c slim fits?

there is a UNIQLO in soho. it is on the corner of Broadway and Broome. that shit is nice but i feel like the opening at the bottom of the jeans is too wide for rocking with my high tops. for that reason i took back the pair i had and picked up some gap morrissons. but nonetheless... they have some nice denim in their store. check them out
