How come hypers started hatin when that 'Crash' cat posted those bigge shirts. People were sayin biggie shirts are played out and shit..i agree , but them shits were palyed out way before L&D dropped their lines, but hypers bought that shit up!

there seems to be a double standard....
if brands that you cats like drop bullshit..its OK
but if someone else tries to do the same shit..it gets hate
Bullshyt is Bullshyt...biggie shyt is played out whether you like the brand or not!

one other thing..what do you cats think about that brand getting the 'cease' letter for using the graphic that anutha company made kinda famous?

( i see that the thread is gone so i dont want to name names and shit)

i like the way they flipped it and i know lots of other brands used the graphic,..but that was some copying, bitin ass shyt and hopefuly in the future brands will be more creative.

no hate... nothing against the brands but...that was a staight up jak move. Stop Stealin other peoples shyt!!

I noticed this too, but it's all about branding. I can't speak for everyone here but, I suppose people would just rather wear a bullshit tee by L&D, than wear a bullshit tee by say, CRASH or any other "up-and-coming" brand.

Lush Life may have done it first but Diamond did it better IMO since it actually replicated the original tees (i.e. crimson ghost filling up the entire tee)

I think you have a point about the double standard. On the other hand, the L&D one just looked sick, so there's a little leeway there. If you drop a biggie tee and it doesn't look dope then heads will hate on it and say it's played...and that's true...but if you can keep the design tight heads will dig it. Biggie isn't gonna go out of style for a long long time

dont get me wrong..i love biggie just as much as the next guy,but there is just alot of brand loyalty in here. it seem like if hundreds, diamond, L&D, ..so on and so on..all drop the same ass design all at the same time...everyone in here will go crazy for that shit...kinda like the whole skull thing. but let someone else do it and muthafuckas be gettin all touchy and shyt.

its all good...just something i noticed.

For the most part everything in life in general is a series of cliches...unless your running around wearing diapers and safari hats you are most likely part of a cliche yourself whether it be hip hop/skater/punk/ etc.. So its not so much that something is done alot its how its done. A dope design is a dope desgin....clearly if you dont like L&D or not the shirt was better than crash's paraody of a biggie tee.

yes it was clearly better...just arguing the fact that some cats said the whole biggie t was played out.

and i dont have anything against L&D..they are doing pretty good.

but if its played out for some..it should be played out for all..brands that u like shuldnt get a free pass!!

to quote nas:

no idea is original- theres nothing new under the sun, it aint what you do its how its done.

im ok with overused design elements as long as its flipped creatively in a way that hasnt been done before.

Word......there definitely is a double-standard here, and the sad part is the majority of peeps on here are too caught up to see through it, I bet half those kids in the Crash thread that were bashing the Biggie tee, copped or praised the L&D one, even if the shit was a joke, the first couple pages were honest replies!!! Dudes on here are walking/posting contradictions, I don't see why people continue to post their brands here for review.......too many hypocrites!!

biggie was just getting ready to start BROOKLYN MINT, i don't know if they went ahead with that

Brooklyn Mint was in full effect...used to cop it on Broadway in those semi-wack hip hop stores that sold Avirex before Avirex got their own store to be wack in. Anyway my point is...Brooklyn Mint was already going strong...they had mad shirts out...this was in like '95 or so I think. Anyone else remember dat?
