finally got around to getting the RIT dye and thinking about dying my hoody purple
Ok i know the basic instructions on dying it, but i just wanna clear up a few things

how much dye did u use, im guessing its necceasry to pour in the entire bottle of the RIT liquid dye

u dont set it for a spin cycle? u just let the paisley soak for 30mins or what?

what happens after u take the hoody out, do u let the spin cycle finish, because the water is going to be filled with alot of dye, that sounds like it'd stain easily..

just follow the instructions on your ritz bottle..
its calls for you to use a cup of salt which is helpful in preventing the black on the hoodie from fading rediculously when you put in the dryer after the wash.
and yes you pour the whole bottle in the wash depending on the size of bottle you bought, of course..but if you bought the regular size bottle then yes the entire bottle...let it soak for 30 mins then wash as usual (including the spin cycle as a regular wash would)
with no detergent or soap of any kind -also remember after your done with the process be sure to set the washer to a full cycle with soap and water without any garments inside to remove all dye residue on washer basket walls.

tip:zip up your hoodie, it prevents the zipper from becoming wavy after drying it.

thanks that was helpful, what color did u make urs?

on the RIT site, it says to extend the spin cycle and not let it rinse early, i have no idea how to extend it on my machine, its kinda dated?

just keep turning the timer knob back to keep washing so it doesnt jump into the rinse mode.

for example, my washer has timer up to 16 minutes and then it jumps to rinse mode. every 15 minutes, i would turn the timer knob back to 1 so it keeps washing. hopefully that makes sense.

i think my exact color was "wine" but after the wash and dry its ends up looking like a dark pink more then a purple tone.
i didnt bother doing all that rinse stuff..after i let it soak for 30 mins with the dye in the water, i just turned my washer to a regular wash cycle and let it do its thing. (w/o soap)
once it was done, i just put my dryer on feather-light dry and threw it in.
mine came out lookin real nice, the salt adds a good look to it as odd as it sounds.

go to the laundromat so your washer doesn't turn purple or which ever color you used to dye.

if they knew you were dyeing stuff there, they would kick you out...

how do you think the people that own those machines feel?

did it fuck up the washer at all, i dont want any residue that might cling other clothes, and preferably i dont want the whole washer to look purple afterwards.

it wont fuck up the washer if you follow the instructions on the bottle. It tells you to run the washer as you would normally, with detergent and bleach.

how do you wash the shirts, i pretty much worried about fading and peeling on the lil paisely designs. should i just put it in the washer inside out?

They can't peel, don't worry about that.
