Already Home?

Far away from the usual material things we like to obsess over daily, the needing for success hits us directly in the face. We all want to attain this thing called ’success’ , but only few put in the required work ethic to reach that platform. Everyone needs to be inspired knowing they can accomplish anything he/she puts their mind to even with doubts from others. There was no preparation for this write up, only the continuation of different events which sparked several thoughts to come up with this post. One of these events was having a conversation with my good friend Phillip Annad who runs the Award Tour who’s always meticulous in his attention to rules of presentation and everything alike. With our generation of technological savvy and how fast the world moves today it’s important that we find our home. There are millions of individuals in our same case who are just living what they’re passionate about and transferring that element to the world.

I took a quick look at the blog list on the Hypebeast panel and the few fresh faced young people including ourselves are doing notable work in their own respective paths. Anyone can do the same.

Being born and raised in New York City, the place where many people venture from a far to follow their own dreams. I’m starting to starting to witness people around me feeling a sense of bewilderment as they run into their last choices. We all at one point in our lives have felt this type of feeling of confusion. In my personal case I’m straddling two loads on my back on whether to choose a career path in the medical field which I have wanted to do since before adolescence, or follow what I’m passionate about presently. I have put in my mind that I know that I can accomplish both maybe not at the same time but surely will happen. Psychologist would most likely label all of this as Quarter-life crisis. I just wonder how the always progressing fast world effects this presently.

“There’s no reason to have a Plan B, because it distracts from Plan A”

While browsing good friend Claudio Cabrera’s blog ‘Live Above Mediocrity’ I came across this video below of the actor Will Smith. I had already respected Will Smith for his acting ability, but I was unaware of how much wisdom and determination he contained for his artistry. I think I have played this video somewhere around 20 times since I viewed it originally, call me crazy. (lol) I hope this video compilation inspires you guys the same way it did for myself.

Shout out to all the people following what they want to do molding their own futures, Let’s go!

I feel like I’m going through the same thing. I’ve loved fashion my whole life, since I was younger watching Elsa Clinch with my mom on Saturday mornings. Now at college I feel like I’ve been exposed to so much I feel if I don’t choose the right thing I’ll be messing with my future.

This is an amazing video, something that should be routine to watch. Exactly what I needed.

Quite simply the complete and utter truth. I could sit here and write an essay in response (And I probably will at some point so I’ll just leave it at this.) It’s a sad and depressing state when everyone around you accepts mediocrity. So incredibly essential to surround yourself with people who have a like minded view of the world and most importantly aspiration for success.

    Great post brother, true words.

It seems alot of people are having this same conversation lately, probably due to the economy and seeing that their vision may be a little bit harder to attain at this time. Many want to live their dream, live their passion, and wish their way to success. Their are no short cuts, you have to have a good work ethic to turn your dreams into reality. The ARMY has a saying “We get more done by 9:00am than most people do all day”, great words to live by. I get up very early before my competition does so I’m ahead of the game. Don’t be afraid of hard work and work with integrity. Your honor is your bond.

How odd is that? I sat and stumbled upon this random video mash up of Will Smith speaking on his drive, passion and what seperates him from anyone else and I run into your post speaking on the same exact thing.

“Great minds think alike” is a fairly overused term, but I can say that the circle of success is becoming more familiar with each trip I take to further that step.

wow, I’m truly moved by the amount of dedication served up here. I have only a small glimpse of what it means having to survive in NYC. you all seem to be needing a personal motivation coach to go through this. there’s a few points that leave a strange aftertaste, though. I’m a little older and one thing that I’ve come to accept is mediocracy that everyone is hating on so much here. now the things I hear or feel you’re thriving for I consider accomplished for myself but there’s more to life than the measurable signs of success. I completely feel for your need to have a starting point. to find a way out of bed feeding on dreams on the way to success. I heard someone say that the happiest moment in his life was when he accepted his sons mediocracy. ever thought about that? there’s a lot of greatness in this from where I’m sitting.
please don’t take this as an advice to deviate from your strive for greatness but pls try to avoid sounding like your about to start a mediocracy witch hunt.
I liked statements that tried to take out the mystic warrior quest feeling when talking about questions like “who am I?” and “what am I here for?”. start doing all this without tooting your horn too much and you’ll see, that you get there quicker and you make less enemies. dedication is something that you’d much rather see or feel than beeing told about it all the time. you still serve as a role model but you don’t build up resistance to follow it. later, when you get kids, you’ll know what I mean…

I have told you time and time again about how I am viewing life at this particular point in my life and it seems that my dreams are overpowering my reality right now. And, in this post it seems that you are at a similar crossroads as I am, but yours is a little less drastic as mine…LOL I have to say that you must follow your heart or do your passion(once again it is two diferent things man. So like if you think about it and pray on it, which is really all it takes. I must say I can’t be the one to let you in on how to make up your mind and tell you where to go all I can say to you is something I have been taking in to consideration for myself is, do what feels natural to you right now. Because at the end of the day all you have is happiness and if you don’t have that then what else is there…?

How can I put this…first off let me say, sensational post this subject of this post is honestly one of my motivators. The fear of mediocrity, the fear of regret. I think the problem with our generation is mimicking that of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. See we reside too much in our minds, and never actually transport these dreams into our worldly realm, we dream all the time but never take action, some think things will just happen for them, others don’t work towards making their aspirations reality. I wrote poetry on this back in 06, I’ll go look for that piece and share.
