Brooklyn Banks
January 25, 2010
Last Saturday at 1pm there was an impromptu rally/gathering at the Brooklyn Banks organized by Steve Rodriguez. The mob turnout was a success.
"Since 2001 *, the banks have basically been used as a municipal parking lot," comments Steve Rodriguez from 5Boro. "Oil from the cars destroys the bricks, and the weight of the cars makes the bricks uneven which is terrible for skating. Plus, the street sweepers don’t clean the banks anymore, and you can’t even sit in the park because of all the cars."
Hopefully this rally will save the Brooklyn Banks.

good action..
more skate, fewer cars!
Phenomenal post! When I was a teenager, I would have visions of the Brooklyn Banks constantly in my head from reading Transworld Skateboarding in the mid to late 90s. I still skate, but over the years,I've heard mixed reports about the actual condition of the Banks. Some people told me it was all knobbed up and done for, but stories like this let me know that Skateboarding is still alive and well @ the Brooklyn Banks!
