Doing What We Can. HAITI Disaster Relief.
January 12, 2010

Every once and a while we all get a chance to make a contribution to something greater. When something as awful as the earthquake that took place Tuesday, January the 12th occurs it falls upon the shoulders of each and every one of us to contribute where able, and however possible.

For those that don't know, my mother is an immigrant to America from Haiti, and I spent a few weeks out of last summer in Haiti connecting with family I had never met, and reconnecting with family I hadn't seen in years. Haiti is in a desperate situation and the coverage and news emanating from the island is nothing short of heart shattering.

I have family living directly in Port-Au-Prince, in the epi-center of the quake, so it is needless to say that this disaster is hitting as close to home as possible. If it is possible for you to do something to help, then I would ask with complete sincerity that you do what you can.

Thousands are going to be dead when this rubble finally clears, and that is only going to be the very beginning on the problems. If you come to Award Tour to purchase a shirt every once and a while, I'd encourage you to take a second and donate just $5 to any one of the causes accepting donations for relief in Haiti. Your chance to have an effect in an area that desperately needs it.

DONATE NOW WITH: AMERICAN RED CROSS

DONATE NOW WITH: CONVOY OF HOPE

For those interesting in helping immediately, simply text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.

*I'll be pushing up the release of some new beanies and donating all the proceeds to Yele Haiti relief efforts. Hopefully this takes place in the upcoming days. Will come back with more info on that soon.

Stay Safe-Phil.

I have made my donation, and have seen that countries such as Cuba, Beliz, and a few others who are not rich nations, are helping. My question is this; where is Saudi Arabia, where is Iran? Where are many of the Middle Eastern nations? Israel is helping. Where is North Korea?

Anyone see a pattern? The Axis of NO Goodwill.

The line in the sand will be drawn by the deeds that we do.....,or DON'T do.

My prayers go out to all those who suffer in Haiti, as well as other parts of the world.

Is Saudia Arabia helping the Roman Catholics victims of the Earthquake in Haiti ?
Where Is Iran helping Haiti with this Earthquake ?
Where is the help from the Middle East from the Middle East?
How much compassion do Muslims Religion have for the Human Race?
Are Muslims on Planet Earth helping the victims of a Earthquake of Haiti?

I agree with John's posting today. Where ARE the wealthy Middle East nations? Where is Iran? In 1922, TE Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, called the public spirit of he Arabs "deplorable". It still is.

PS: I know Iranians are not Arabs.

The Haiti relief effort is being lead by U.S., which is a great thing, but I assume that has something to do with some ME countries being apprehensive about donating, etc.

In any case, yes, Iran has pitched in with food, medicine and medical supplies: http://en.trend.az/regions/iran/1619904.html
