So Far Gone.

**Disclaimer. Sorry folks, this post has nothing to do with Drake, Drake’s eyebrows or Cash Money Records.

When I initially came on board for this Hypebeast Blog madness, I figured it would be paramount to write about, well“Hypebeast” sort of things. You know… which awful new pebbled leather Jordan is using on their latest retro, KAW’s favorite socks to wear on Tuesdays, and what Jeff Staple has most recently caused a frenzy with through application of a pigeon. Well take a scroll back through most of these post and that whole plan of attacks seems to have failed in a more or less miserable fashion. I’m beginning to think that this is for the better. You have plenty of that on the front page and on the countless number of blogs that copy and repost material from the front page across the internet.

So with that being said, time to throw around some content the likes of which have never been seen around these parts. Good old Mother Nature in her most full capacity. Let the tree hugging, mud rolling, rock jumping collection of grand times begin.

Now I realize that for some of us in the city and at the computer, all of this surrounding “green” just may be a little too much handle all at one time. Stick around for a moment and try to bear with me, it may open your eyes just a little to the world beyond the pavement. If it has not become abundantly clear already, I am a fan of being outside. From mountain top to lake side, being as far away from cell phone service as possible quite often is exactly where I love to be.

With that fact cleared up, you now have to deal with my own personal National Geographic binge from the past week. Let the imagery commence.

J.R.R. Tolkein probably sat down here and wrote the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. Bilbo Baggins and all that.

Alright keep in mind that the above came straight from my Canon G9. No Google Images, no Life Archives, no National Geographic scans. That is where I was standing only days ago. When you are faced with that type of immense natural beauty well quite frankly, the little things that seemed to be so important back home just sort of fall to the side. Latest releases, emails regarding new projects…who the hell cares when you are standing on top of what looks like a Windows stock wallpaper?

There is nothing like climbing 6,000 feet to a summit and finding a massive pile of corn bread waiting for you in a mountain side hut. The Appalachian Mountain Club does it right, if you know than you know. I’m not really sure what I’m trying to convey with this post. I don’t think there is too much of an audience out there for this sort of stuff where the Beasting of Hype is concerned, but hopefully is resonates with a few of you. Taking some steps away from the computer and getting outside, like really, truly, very far outside is nothing short of perspective changing.

I would strongly suggest and hope you get a chance to get outside even if it not the top of a mountain.

And on that note, next time for our Eastern Shores Nature Club excursion we will take a stroll with nature down to the following…

Soon to follow, taking the ridiculous jump from rock formations into vast bodies of crystal clear water. Alright now I’m having too much fun, hope that the same goes for all of you truly and truly.

Stay Safe,
Phil.

I work for the National Park Service- just thought I’d let you know that the nature-lover X hype collabo does exist elsewhere.
    Also, where specifically was this?

Wish I could post pics onto this. I have some really nice pics of a trip to the wild that my girl and I took last summer - december 2008. First we went bungy jumping at Bloukrans Bridge, Tsitsikamma South Africa - awesome experience man.

After that we really went to the wild man, walked a pretty rad trail, saw this really nice waterfall. Got lost lost on our way back from there - for like two hours, I know, scary hey. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

This year I would like to travel to Mozambique, it’s really nice there. Don’t think I’ll be able to though, kinda broke.

You are propably right, Tolkien must have been atop similar wonderment when he thought up the fellowship. I wish i could too, it s been so long since I left the asphalt world for some much needed safari on rocky slopes and breathtalking falls.

life isnt just about money and all that.. everyone needs to take some time to take in what the world has to offer.. instead of juss working around it .
