The place many hate to love and love to hate (Eugene I see you!), possibly including myself. As a child born and raised in Amsterdam, my parents always used to take us back to the “Pearl of the Orient” every once in a while to visit family and go shopping for awesome stuff such as robot toys, lcd watches and computer games. One of the instant highlights of those dreadfully long flights was the landing at Kai Tak airport, flying low between the high rise buildings hoping the plane wouldn’t end up in the harbour. After being greeted by the dirty humid air and peculiar smell you knew it was going to be a long hot summer. I wouldn’t trade those times for anything in the world though. I still got much love for the place, but the old days are where the most fond memories are.
Dutchies unite and join us in celebrating and honoring the great musical legacy of the late great J Dilla.

We are organizing a ‘Love Haïti’ benefit party and we need your help. After all, helping one another is a group effort. We’re reaching out to the entire Amsterdam creative community to join together for one night to help raise funds for the affected people of Haïti. In the aftermath of the earthquake, hundreds of thousands of Haïtians are homeless and in desperate need of durable, breathable tents that will withstand the continuous aftershocks and protect from the heat that is affecting this impoverished nation. Our chosen charity is Habitat for Humanity.
How can you contribute? Firstly we’re asking you to reach out to your network, spread the word and get as many people as possible down to the event, including yourself. Secondly we’re asking your Amsterdam’s creative companies to commit to matching the amount raised on the night, so if we make 500,00 euro on the night, your company matches that. Or you make a generous donation of your choice. Thirdly please bring along your stuff. Any of your fabulous product, artwork you have made or bought, spare gig tickets, collectables, anything that can be auctioned off on the night to others at the event.
Please drop off the donations at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam by Thursday February 4th at Herengracht 258-266.

Last year our dear friend Eric Elms started his own small publishing company called AndPress in Brookyn, NY. The aim of AndPress is to put an emphasis on the quality and details of a book the way Eric likes it, whether it’s a small photo-copied edition or a larger offset book. He set things of with a series of books by friends and likeminds such as A-Ron, Colin Dodgson, Neckface, Jason Polan and Parra. The books are now available at the AndPress website.
