    SpaceMane - As a member of a wealthy nation you have a right to do what you want with your real and lent money and consume as much as possible. As with anything consumed or purchased, the object exists outside of its utilitarian purpose. Fashion exists for such strange and disingenuous reasons as signifying status and attracting sexual partners. Neither of those reason are "real". Its a fictional lifestyle. I don't necessarily agree with messages attempting to heap guilt on people for owning what others do not. But I do agree greatly with the idea that consumption is WAY out of line and control in the US. It isn't just accepted, its expected if you want status in certain groups. It kills me that I seem more about "getting mine" every day without it seems anyone asking why they think they should get more.

    Just think about the reason and the intention behind purchasing 40 pairs of shoes in different colors or whatever and consider whether it actually makes sense.
