Habitat Footwear
December 29, 2009

When I first heard about it, I was like, really? Another skateboard company doing footwear?
I honestly had more than doubts.
I had the chance to meet up with Joe (Castrucci), the man behind Habitat Skateboards (he's one of my all-time favorite artists) and I asked him directly about Habitat Footwear 'WHY DO IT? WHY?' (yes, i asked him WHY? twice straight to his face). He's been wanting to do footwear for about 10 years now, right after Habitat skateboards was founded (in 2001). I was very skeptical about it even though I know that a good friend of mine and also an amazing footwear designer Aaron Hoover is doing it together with Joe Castrucci.

5 minutes ago, I just flipped through the Habitat Footwear Online catalog and was AMAZED. I have to say Habitat Footwear BROKE THE CURSE of skateboard company's doing skateboard shoes. I guess, if you really have the right person, the right designer, the right mind behind a brand, anything amazing is possible and YES, Habitat Footwear is definitely amazing footwear collection. I will most definitely buy and wear it. On point design, good shape and good team (Guru Khalsa, Austyn Gillette, Marius Syvanen, and their new rider Alex Davis). At this time, it's definitely about the footwear.

I have to salute both Joe Castrucci and Aaron Hoover for making it happen. Also, most definitely for BREAKING THE CURSE. Respect.

Check em out at your skateboard shops near you.
