MELBURN EN DELIRIUM.
February 26, 2010

Golden Monkey bar, somewhere in Melbourne CBD.

Melbourne, in delirium. Due to a tight work schedule and a couple of unexpected last minute hurdles to jump over, things weren't looking the greatest for me in the run-up to my Melbourne trip and the Buffet tradeshow. Coming down with a cold of epic proportions after a couple of late nighters less than 24 hours before departing, what's a guy to do? Sure, just knock back a million cold & flu tablets and a couple of anti-histamines and I'll be good to go on the red eye flight. Unfortunately, this amazing deduction only resulted in a mild state of delirium over my first day in Melbourne. Fun. I apologise in advance (and in retrospect) if you came across my rambling incoherent self yesterday.

New travel accessory - I received this a couple of days before I took off - the Silly Thing x Roberu camera strap (long version). Black wool, and so much more comfortable than the strap I was using before, which digs into your shoulder after a while. Thanks TK for this. Much appreciated.

My first port of call after quickly popping into Buffet was to catch up with team Nike, whose regional head office is located in Melbourne. Was fun seeing NSW team - Dela, Trev, Nick, and Jude, and spent some time pow wowwing about ideas for our region. Pictured above is what you get thrown at you if you don't obey Nike marketing rules. Hi Dez.

Cameron, Imperial denim. What started off as a quick meet and greet slowly evolved into a rather long conversation, spanning from the state of design in the modern marketplace, to the intricacies of branding (or the lack thereof). Perhaps the mild delirium helped. Still, quite inspiring and thought provoking listening to his views on not only his brand, but also subjects like the degrading appreciation for quality design and craftsmanship, and how widespread it has become, even (literally) under your nose. I love listening to people talk through their design philosophy and ethics. Like I said, you find inspiration when you least expect it.

Typical New Yorker.

"Do you have ice tea?"
"No, I'm sorry."
"Do you have tea?"
"Yes."
"Do you have ice?"
"Yes."
"Then you have ice tea. Gimme an Earl Grey and a glass of ice then. Psshh."

Well, I guess that works.

The delirium continues.
