ROUND THE WORLD #3. ALLO PARIS.
January 22, 2010

13 hours later in a flying steel tube followed by a rather interesting cab ride, we finally arrived at our next destination on the RTW trip - Paris, France. It's been a couple of years since we have been back in Europe, so we were looking forward to seeing what was new, with the Men's FW10 fashion week in full swing, as well as the capsule show in Paris. Even landing in the evening, we had to hit the ground running.

We were invited by the adidas Fashion Group to attend the FW10 collection presention for Y-3, the special line created by infamous Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto for adidas. Excuse the title image, it was playing a visual that was created for the SS10 collection and theme. According to Tanaka-san from the adidas fashion group this collection was inspired in part by the fashion of inner city living, particularly that of New York. The presentation utilized live models who changed positions as the night wore on. Footballer Zinedine Zidane was also in attendance for the preview.

Took a stroll through Paris in the dead of the night. Came across colette, and had a chance to see the window for Jonio-san's SS10 UC collection inspired by the design ethos of Dieter Rams, "Less But Better".

Ended the first night in Paris with dinner with Fed, whom I suspect was subconsciously trying to romance me by taking me to the rather amorous restaurant Marly, facing the Musee Louvre.

That said, this cracker cheesecake was absolutely stunning. It took a while for them to prepare it, but a must try for those in Paris. It almost made the rather awkward looks from the waiters worth it. Almost.

More tomorrow.
