THE ROSS & MIKE SHOW.
December 22, 2009

It's official, Schumacher is returning to Formula Uno for a one year spiel with the newly formed Mercedes-Brawn GP.
I'm not sure whether I feel excited or a little nauseated about this. Ferrari's monotonous ho-hum domination of the F1 under Brawn/Schumacher in the early 00's was one of the reasons why I weened off watching a few seasons ago. That said, scroll forward a few years, and with manufacturers pulling out left right and centre (all Euro championship), this is a long awaited injection of excitement into the discipline.
I suppose when the world champion leaves your team you'd want someone... kinda "good" to replace him.
Hamilton / Button vs Schumacher / Rosberg. ENG vs DEU ? Or will the World Champion all-star McLaren line-up implode with their two 'superstar' drivers? Will wunderkind Vettel in the Torro Rosso come up as the dark horse and snatch victory? What will Virgin Racing pull out of the bag?
Whether this is a good or bad thing is yet to be seen, but at the very least I'll be tuning into more races in 2010.
Will be interesting to see Schuey in white.
What's changed health-wise since his inability to return mid-season this past championship?
German super team! if the car is reliable then the combination of Brawn and Schumacher will be unstoppable. Don't forget about Vettel too; but I predict 2010 will be a Brawn v McLaren battle. We'll see if Jenson is really a champion driver, or if the real champione of the 09 season was Ross Brawn himself.
Eugene: Apparently it's been a year since his Moto accident resulting in that neck injury that prevented him from driving in Massa's place mid-season. I'm guessing that's long enough for him to have healed, and he's already in the middle of intense training (even before Ross Brawn made the announcement). Then again, maybe there was some ulterior motive at play during that mid-season 'comeback', perhaps Brawn had been hinting to him about returning to the driver's seat in 2010 earlier than he officially admitted?
felix: I agree on your last point. I forgot about Bruno Senna too, it will be interesting seeing him on the F1 grid, given his uncle's legacy.
