TOKYO NE #5 – KZK, ADIDAS, SPAKRING.
October 15, 2009
I managed to pop back into the Fragment office for a quick catch up with this guy. Hello Kazuki. I managed to catch him in between prep for his adidas exhibition with Azuma-san at the adidas Planthouse, and guitar practice I think. It was fun learning what he had been up to since his huge trip down here a couple months ago to New Zealand for the O By O collection launch - good to see that he was "daijobu yo." Here is the view from the couch.
And here is the view from his desk.
Thanks for the kind omiyage Kazuki-kun. Very appreciated. NAIIICE.
Was interesting seeing all the things he's been working on recently. Can't show you too much, so here's another sneak peek. Coming SS10.
The next day, I headed all the way out to the adidas Planthouse for Kazuki's FIVETWO3 Plants Pack exhibition with Azuma-san, whom he also worked together with for his inaugural O By O exhibition. It was pretty far out - I mean, literally, it was so far out that I think the road signs stopped being bilingual. The exhibition was held in a miniature greenhouse in the middle of a... vegetable field? Still, was a great exhibition and really interesting seeing two elements that you don't commonly associate with each other fused in a presentation. They served vegetables that they grew in the field as the finger food for the evening, and gave each attendee a bag of seeds... of unknown origin. Was great meeting and chatting with some of the people from adi Japan - Eyrman ze German, Momo, and of course, Kase, who was looking much better than when I first saw him when I arrived. Yoroshiku! And, naturally, I bumped into doco-demo-Akachi when I was out there too. Damn, that guy really is everywhere.
90 minutes later and after one of the longest train rides I've ever had to experience here, we were back in the heart of Tokyo, at the Shin-Marunouchi building for the PRIME/honeyee live event. We arrived pretty late though, but early enough to partake in some of the drinking tomfoolery that followed HF's live performance. Bumped into Brendan & Ricky from Supreme NYC who were also in town for the week, was great chatting with you guys.
Straight after that, it was off to Lebaron Microcosmos, since I completely missed Kojiro at the honeyee event. I always manage to have a fun time dorking out with Kojiro and crew. Even if it is a complete geezer-fest every time. Hey, I'm just sayin'.
As always, this town never fails to amuse me. SPAKring!
