Here it is, the final ALLTRACK09 update. The finale event of the week was the Red Bull Eye in The Sky race, featuring live updates and timing over a ~15km course throughout Auckland City, along with a camera equipped helicopter to film the racers from the sky. The checkpoints were posted online 24 hours before the race, so everybody had their chance to plot their own course and practice the day before the race.
I’m blogging this as I sit teary-eyed in-transit at HK International Airport, but I managed to be there for the start - absolute carnage. A healthy turnout and mix of couriers, road racers, trackies, street riders, culture vultures, and the rest. Just awesome seeing dozens of bikes streaming/flying out onto the main road during peak hour traffic.
So, without further ado, the results:
OFFICIAL RED BULL EYE IN THE SKY RACE COMPETITION RESULTS:
1st place - Rainier Schaefer (MASH SF) - 20m 22 sec
2nd place - Chris Macic - 20m 32 sec
3rd place - Ken White - 21m 50 sec
4th place - Max - 21m 52 sec
5th place - Ezra - 22m 12 sec
6th place - Mike Lawrence - 22m 30 sec
7th place - Daniel Gerous - 22m 52 sec
8th place - Joseph Nerney - 23 min 29 sec
And with all championship points tallied -
CONGRATULATIONS KEN WHITE - THE ULTIMATE ALLTRACK CHAMPION 2009.
1st place overall - KEN WHITE - 16 points
2nd place - MIKE LAWRENCE - 15 points
3rd place - CHRIS MACIC - 12 points
Congratulations again to all the winners of the individual competitions, and special thanks to all the guys who competed in all three competitions. I believe a mention must go out to Mike Lawrence, the only rider to place in the top 8 in every competition event. (7th Sprints, 1st Tricks, 6th Race).
