Set it off like the 4th of July
July 5, 2010
The 4th of July comes and it goes. Never been a fan. Not due to the undertones of abject imperialism and celebration of formerly (some would say currently) oppressive regime, I left that in the days before i resolved that all parties effected by any ill doing had made the best of a bad situation. Why am i not a fan?
Its pretty boring.
The anticipation that some may have for visual pyrotechnics is totally lost on me and the only awe and wonderment I receive from the fireworks display is the fact that the someone is getting paid the big bucks to set off bombs across the city skyline one day a year and wonder what the hell he's doing the other 364 days of the year when fireworks are good for nothing but scaring people into thinking World War 3 made an unexpected start.
I was very content with staying home and getting a head start on the procrastination that i was going to be doing the rest of the week but the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry (thats proof that i've actually read a book before).
Ended up hanging out with my peoples William Yan, Kenji Summers, Richie Cruz, Spanish Jose, Josh and Travis from Street Ettiquite and some other marketing geniuses on a random rooftop in Brooklyn.
I only speak of it because my city is glorious. Every day you wake up you never know where you'll end up.
Theres nothing like an NYC Summer
