Cest Beau
July 27, 2010
When i was making my way into the job market there weren't many options for someone with virtually no experience to make their way into the fashion industry. Luckily through my network of friends I ended up at a fledgling Nom De Guerre as they themselves were attempting to become the fashion powerhouse that they are now. Nom De Guerre was a bastion for more urban artisans with leanings toward high fashion. A bunch of guys who liked clothes, appreciated art and collected sneakers who held common ties in the downtown New York Scene.
Its there a met Beau Wollens, at the time a young, rail thin, downtown kid who's youthful exuberance was masked by his reverence for the older folks he worked around. As our intern Beau swept stairs, ran for sandwiches and spent more time sweat drenched in the sauna of a stockroom than showing face in our store or office. An invaluable member of the team, Beau took the whipping boy aspect of being an intern with stride and worked like he owned the place.
Fast forward to years later and Beau, pursuing a degree at Syracuse university, had the opportunity to open up a pop up shop in the Lower East Side, he was able to lean on those connections at Nom De Guerre and at other spots where his props and connections came into play.
On July 1st Beau opened Cest Beau, a pop up boutique featuring cult New York labels, Nom de Guerre , Pegleg NYC , Reason, and Absurd. This will including exclusive styles and products from each brand and an eclectic mix of vintage clothing, alongside coveted footwear offerings from Adidas, Nike, Converse, Tricker’s London, and Russel Moccasin. The store also showcases an extensive selection of sunglass frames from artist Claw Money’s vintage archives including; Ray Ban, Versace, Persol , Roberto Capucci , Alpina , in addition to exclusive Claw Money Frames.
The shop is open for a few more days till the 31st. So there's not much time left.
As far as Beau has come we still expect him to sweep the steps.
