Good at Rap: Danny Brown
March 5, 2010
I like rap a lot.
Not enough to unearth any of the hot 16's i've laid down in the shower. There are professionals more formidable at the rap game than I, and they don't sound like a weasel caught in a vacuum cleaner which is the larger difference between me and the professionals.
My ear for rap is pretty discerning so when I find something that I like, my first thought is to let the world know . Although however much i may look like Oprah, my influence barely moves the mercury in the thermometer and any list of my favorite things will either get me committed or arrested so no one in the studio audience will be receiving anything I have to offer.
The worth of my opinion notwithstanding, if I could take to Times Square with a bullhorn and shout Danny Brown is good at rappin..i wouldn't do that, but i would tell a friend to tell a friend.
Detroit stalwart Danny Brown has been a mainstay on the Midwest scene with multiple mixtapes to his name. Song compilations like BrownTown, Detroit State of mind, Hot Soup and The Hybrid Mixtape are an insight into Detroit living. The mixture of harsh reality and biting humor make for interesting lyrics but what sets him apart is his his unique voice and delivery which is like listening to a drunken cartoon character with a bout of manic depression.
There's almost no such thing as a sense of humor in rap anymore and with the addition of actual rap skill Danny Browns additions to the annuls of rap history should be well documented.

A rapper who raps about selling crack and playing video games? sounds good to me.
Actually i do have something for the studio audience. I made a fake ass mix of some songs off his past mixtapes which i will be bootlegging and selling outside of my apartment. If you know where i'm at come see me.

Perhaps you might enjoy this with Danny on the hook.
