If i were to write my autobiography, it would be rife with tales of alien invasion, Ninjas riding on the backs of elephants and love affairs with exotic women from places like Guam or Suriname, because that how i roll…or at least a slight approximation of how i roll with a few facts fudged here and there…ok it would be a complete lie, are you happy?
Im not interesting enough to warrant a biopic (Surely the dude who played Dudley on Different Strokes would be cast to play me), so i would need to toss in some fictional feats to spice up the tale and get the story greenlit.
However there are some stories that i can hear without the bells and the whistles (mostly because i can’t hear the story over the bells and the whistles). I know the story of 10.Deep from all angles mostly as an insider having to recount the story to countless journalists. It’s another thing hearing him tell the story himself.
Scott and i spoke at New Design High school in NYC high school a few months ago about the principles of entrepreneurship and using design to start a business. Between muttering nonsensical ad-libs to the impressionable youth and ogling Rosie Perez who happened to also be in the room, I managed to get my camera out to record some of Scott’s words. The self-effacing qualities and bizarre wonderment at the workings of the industry shine through as he speaks of his humble beginnings.
Maybe one day my story will inspire kids to want to make something of themselves or make the dire mistake of wanting to be like me, but until then the story about that fist fight with that half man/half donkey on the face of the moon stays in my life story draft. The box office will eat it up.
