We Run Frankfurt…
November 10, 2010
I got to spend a few days off in Frankfurt... A nice change from the last time I was out there where i was there for about 24 hours - and we partied until the sun came up.
I have to say Frankfurt is definitely one of my favorite places in Germany, largely in part because of all the cool folk who live out there . Shouts to YoSoy Clothing, Jack Sehn , Yves Hoffman, Caroline, Julian, the RunFFM.com crew ( chris and andy) and everyone else who hung out with me and made sure I didn't get lost...
Whats Cool about frankfurt is its true mixture of Old and New.
If you point your camera in one direction looking down the Mein River, you see this - classic old world churches and architecture...
Point it in the other direction - you get Germany's ONLY SKYLINE -
which is also helped earn Frankfurt the nickname "MeinHattan".
The city itself is relatively small, I just walked around one nite and got to see a lot of it ... stopping in at the various Starbucks to steal wi-fi and check into Foursquare.
Like I said... a beautiful mixture of Old world and the new.
Besides the Site seeing, I got to do some good eating. On recommendation of Chris Himself and Andy from Runffm.com , we went on a search for the HOTTEST CURRYWURST in the world.
We hit up this spot -
They have this "Curry Wurst", which is basically a sausage cut up, and covered in this Curry powder and Sauce.
They have varying degrees of heat - A to F, A being the weakest , F being the worst.
Initially I asked for D , but the dude was like... D is about 30 times hotter then Tabasco.... So I wussed out and got C instead.
Which in retrospect was SMART. Cause I needed to get this "Kakao" Chocolate milk drink in order to not have a full on ulcer attack.
Does this place have the hottest currywurst??? I would say most definitely, but Im not crazy enough to find out. There are of course those rumors of someone dying trying the F grade hottness... it's not entirely unbelievable.
The Run FFM guys then took me to Alt Sachsenhausen, one of the older parts of the city of frankfurt, where I had a VERY only in Frankfurt cuisine called Handkase mit Muzik.
It's this hard cheese with vinegar and onions - you can probably only get this here in frankfurt, and you know me - When in Rome.
You take the cheese, and onions , spread some butter on some bread, put that cheese on that bread and munch away.
The MIT MUZIK part means literally "with music" ... But what it means is, if you eat the cheese with the onions, ya gonna fart. this is the other musical fruit besides beans, but its cheese.
The Run FFM guys were kind enough to document the whole culinary adventure, plus ask some questions about the whole djing thangy thing - peep the video below...
Now even though I got some downtime, you know I was out there to collect them Euro's baby...
Djing out in Frankfurt was a blast - peep some picks from the Run FFM blog to see what the night was like at Travolta. Thanks to Dennis and Harold and the Travolta folk for taking care of me and bringing me out...
