From its enlightening series of travel guides, to its expansive coverage discerning the global quality of life, Monocle’s growing portfolio of informative content continues to broaden with its latest book titled “How to Make a Nation: A Monocle Guide.” The 340-page publication explores a range of macro to granular components that are necessary to make a “happy, vibrant and successful country.” The video above highlights interviews with the editors delving into the process behind the book, which covers topics like education, healthcare and identity through flags and currency, in order to examine all of the collective touch points of nation building. Overall, the book seeks to address how nations can work better for everyone, whether you’re a high-level leader affecting policy or curious citizen, by looking outside one’s own borders.

Published by Gestalten, regular and deluxe versions of the guides featuring original photos and illustrations can be purchased via Monocle’s online store now.
