Last last year, The xx announced their European tour dates by surprising loyal fans with free tickets — secretly. This unorthodox action allowed their fans to announce the tour to the public for them, over social media. This strategy was novel and unique, and worked well the first time around so the trio is doing it again. A set of fans recently received tickets to upcoming North American tour dates and some even received a 7” record of “On Hold.” Locations so far include Portland, Houston and Philadelphia. The xx’s forthcoming album I See You is due out January 13, and official tour dates should be announced soon.
