Is adidas Taking Shots at Nike's "Athlete" Slogan in Its Latest Ad?

adidas and Nike have had a longstanding rivalry over the years but in more recent times the fierce competition between the two sporting giants has become even more apparent, given the Three Stripes’ aggressive efforts to seize a greater portion of the market, particularly in North America. In a new “Sport Needs Creators” advertisement featuring Paul Pogba, Aaron Rodgers, Von Miller and Brandon Ingram, the German company emphasizes the importance of originality and “bringing something new and different to the game.” It also states, “If you call yourself an athlete create something,” a quote that could be interpreted as a subtle shot at Nike’s Bill Bowerman quote, “If you have a body, you are an athlete.” What do you guys think?
