Nike's "Unlimited Youth" Ad Stars 86-Year-Old IRONMAN Athlete "The Iron Nun"
Age is just a number.
Following its recent “Unlimited You” ad, which premiered during the Rio Olympics, Nike continues with its “Unlimited” campaign, this time highlighting an extraordinary athlete, 86 year-old Sister Madonna Buder. Buder appears front and center as she runs, bikes and swims with resilient ferocity that could outpace many who are half her age. “The Iron Nun” has competed in over 40 IRONMAN triathalon races, which packs together a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run, proving to us that youth has no age limit.
At the age of 65 Buder completed her first IRONMAN World Championship; at the age of 75 she became the oldest woman to ever complete an IRONMAN triathlon and at the age of 82, she set a world record as the oldest IRONMAN triathlon competitor. Buder states, “The only failure is not to try, because your effort in itself is a success.”
