Under Armour's Upcoming NYC Store Set to Replace Former FAO Schwarz Flagship
The sportswear brand plans on moving into more “landmark retail spaces.”

Under Armour has announced that it will be moving into the former FAO Schwarz flagship on Fifth Avenue in New York City. UA CEO Kevin Plank divulged the information on a conference call with investors, saying that the company had plans to move into the 53,000-square-foot retail location as early as 2018. The move is the latest in strategy to utilize “landmark retail space” as a way of bolstering both brand and sales. Other expansions include a distribution deal with Kohl’s, launching in 600 stores before expanding to all of the department store’s 1,100 domestic locations. Rather than diluting product downmarket, Plank maintained that the brand would continue to bring quality product to a wider swath of female consumers—an as-yet relatively untapped market for the booming sportswear company.
