The Air Safari Gets NikeLab's Royal Treatment
Another remastered and modernized Tinker Hatfield classic.

Back in March, Nike unveiled one of its best Air Max 1s to date, putting a premium, contemporary spin on the Tinker Hatfield classic to create the aptly named Air Max 1 Royal under the Swoosh’s NikeLab banner. Now NikeLab is turning its attentions to yet another iconic Tinker Hatfield silhouette for a Royal makeover: the Air Safari. Like the AM1s before them, the new Safaris opt for a deconstructed, nearly seamless suede upper and combine it with a leather sockliner and Air-Sole unit as an internal memory foam heel counter provides plush comfort. And like the second Air Max 1 Royal drop, Nike is even throwing in a nod to the silhouette’s OG colorway with monochromatic uppers — black and “Russet,” in this case — that channel the old school look of the retro runner.
NikeLab’s Air Safari Royal pack is available now at NikeLab stockists worldwide and nike.com for $220 USD per pair.
