'SUPERHOT' Is the 'Matrix'-Like Game We Deserved All Along
A truly original first-person shooter.
First-person shooters are virtually all the same, right? But not SUPERHOT. Originally introduced via Kickstarter back in 2014 following its development for the 2013 7 Day FPS Challenge, SUPERHOT ditches the mechanics of Call of Duty, Halo and similar fare in favor of a truly original premise: time only moves when you move. The resulting gameplay — which also eschews regenerating health bars and convenient ammo drops — blurs “the lines between cautious strategy and unbridled mayhem” as players attempt to navigate a hurricane of slow-motion bullets using only the weapons of fallen enemies and the game’s hallmark time-stopping mechanic.
If you ever played the likes of 2003’s not-so-great Enter The Matrix, then you know this is the type of Matrix-style gameplay video game and science fiction lovers deserved all along.
Complete with its own unique art direction, SUPERHOT is out now for Windows, Mac, and Linux and will launch in March on Xbox One. For more info, head on over to superhotgame.com.
