Justin Bieber Retakes His Throne & Future Lands His Third Straight No. 1 Album
Bieber and Future Hendrix rule the charts this week.
Ever since we started taking a closer look at the Billboard charts and its emerging trends, Justin Bieber has been at the top. After a brief descent following the debut of Zayn Malik’s debut solo single “Pillowtalk,” Justin Bieber is back to being the reigning king of the Billboard rankings. However, even though Bieber’s name is the most common one on the Billboard website, the number one spot on Billboard 200 goes to a less-likely contender: Future. The Atlanta Trap King’s Beats 1-debuted album EVOL earned the rapper his third straight number one album is less than a year’s time. The Future streak is real.
Justin Bieber’s most recent Purpose single “Love Yourself” is sitting at the top spot of the Hot 100, Radio Songs and Pop Songs charts. Once again, Bieber reigns supreme on the Artist 100 chart as well. Despite his recent, previous positions at the top of the Hot 100, Digital Songs, Streaming Songs, Billboard Twitter Top Tracks and On-Demand Songs thanks to “Pillowtalk,” Zayn Malik’s popularity has dropped slightly. Thanks to Bieber, Kanye West, Flo Rida and Rihanna, Malik no longer reigns supreme in those rankings. As Billboard notes, Malik has fallen all the way to No. 7 on the Hot 100. Also of note: as of this week, Rihanna has landed her “20th top five Hot 100 hit” as a result of the popularity of “Work.”
As we previously reported when the news first broke, Future’s codeine-colored reign continues. EVOL has blessed Future with his third consecutive No. 1 album just a little over six months worth of time. DS2 and his joint album with Drake began the streak, and now EVOL seeks to continue it. The LP’s first week sales — largely led by streams — came in at 108,403. As a result of his stream-led takeover, Future’s EVOL has also landed the top spot on the Digital Albums chart as well. Future’s current revolution is certainly a digital one.
