John Lawrence Sullivan Channels the Spirit of '80s and '90s Punk
The Japanese label’s music-inspired 2016 Fall/Winter collection.
Music and fashion have always gone hand-in-hand, and the punk scene, in particular, continues to influence designers from around the globe. Case in point is the Fall/Winter 2016 collection from Japanese label John Lawrence Sullivan, which channels the spirit of ’80s and ’90s punk rock over a variety of monochromatic pieces. Rendered in earthy, seasonal tones, the latest offering from designer and ex-boxer Arashi Yanagawa is highlighted by styles like Chesterfield coats, leather jackets and slim suiting, with fringed detailing, edgy graphics and exaggerated proportions thrown in for good measure. Take a look at the latest from the Japanese menswear brand here, and look for the collection to hit the country’s stockists later this year.
