Vince Staples recently visited Funkmaster Flex’s show on Hot 97 to recite some rhymes during the latest edition of “Freestyles on Flex.” Rapping to the beat of Raekwon’s “Ice Cream,” the Long Beach artist spits for three minutes straight, touching upon a number of topics including Black Lives Matter, gentrification, depression, and the current state of the music business. Staples has found himself in the headlines lately due to his stance on defending a woman who criticized his song lyrics in a viral video, instead choosing to highlight the larger societal issues at present.
